AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING $6,000.00 FROM
THE FEDERAL ASSISTANCE GRANT COMMONLY
REFERRED TO AS GENERAL REVENUE SHARING, FOR
VARIOUS PARK DEPARTMENT PROGRAMS, TO BE
ADMINISTERED BY THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND
THROUGH ITS DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC PARKS
WHEREAS, additional funds are needed by the Department
of Public Parks to administer certain Park Department Programs and
to insure the Department's ability to properly perform its functions
during the year of 1974.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Common Council
of the City of South Bend as follows:
SECTION I. That the sum of $6,000.00 is hereby
appropriated for the year of 1974 from the Federal Assistance Grant
Fund, commonly known as the General Revenue Sharing Fund. This
appropriation is to be administered by the Department of Public
Parks and will be distributed as set forth below:

SECTION II. This Ordinance shall be in full force and
effect from and after its passage by the Common Council, approval
by the Mayor, and the fulfillment of all statutory requirements for
emergency appropriations.

Dear Mr. Nemeth:
The Board,of Park Commissioners .is.requesting.the.Council.to
appropriate,$6;00000 from Revenue Sharing Funds for anew
filtration system for Potawatomi Pool.
The. pool, constructed in 1955, has the original filtration
system, which is.still in operating condition, but is beyond
repair if.the.system, would break.down.
The present filtration system has been machined and repaired
many times and is to the point where future repairs are almost
impossible.
I feel-that for the filtration system to last nineteen years
is a good indication of the department's.high maintenance
.standards.
The filtration system at the Kennedy Pool, also nineteen-years
old, will probably have.to be-replaced in 1975.
