GAMMON Approved and signed by mew/ Clerk ORDINANCE NO. __Y A, !. /p - -7 7 AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING $46,000.00 FROM THE FEDERAL ASSISTANCE GRANT COMMONLY REFERRED TO AS GENERAL REVENUE SHARING, FOR VARIOUS PUBLIC WORKS PROGRAMS, TO BE ADMINISTERED BY THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND THROUGH ITS DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS. WHEREAS, additional funds are needed by the Department of Public Works to administer certain Public Works programs and to ensure the Department's ability to properly perform its functions during the year of 1974. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Common Council of the City of South Bend as follows: SECTION I. That the sum of $46,000.00 is hereby appropriated for the year of 1974 from the Federal Assistance Grant Fund, commonly known as the General Revenue Sharing Trust Fund. This appropriation is to be asministered by the Department of Public Works and will be distributed as set forth below: Program FA53 "Gasoline" Account Description Amount Supplies 321,0 Gasoline $46,000.00 Total Supplies $46,000.00 Total FA53 $462000.00 SECTION II. This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage by the Common Council, approval by the Mayor, and the fulfillment of all statutory requirements for emergency appropriations. Director, Public Works Members of the Common Council County /City Building South Bend, IN 46601 Subject: Additional Gasoline Appropriation Gentlemen: Reply To: Department of Public Works April 11, 1974 Because of the recent increases in the price of gasoline, it is now estimated that additional funds for the purchase of gasoline must be available during the first ten days of July. Gasoline has increased in price from 24.9 cents per gallon to 35.8 cents per gallon. This price increase greatly exceeds that which was anticipated in the current budget. We are asking that you approve the requested appropriation for $46,000 to supplement the purchase of gasoline. This sum is expected to cover the purchase of gasoline for the three -month period beginning July 1. It is anticipated that it will be necessary to request a further appropriation at that time based on the then current price of gasoline. Very truly yours, Rollin E. Farrand, P. E.
