Gentlemen:
The Department of Public Parks is requesting the Common Council to approve
the enclosed ordinance for the appropriation of $15e164•35 from interest
earned on the purchase of'- certificates of deposit.
In 19729 the Park Department sold bonds in the amount of $600,000.00 to
purchase land and construct a park and recreation center complex at the
Linden School' -site.
The bond issue also included monies for site development and equipment for
the building. Because of change orders and the increased cost of equipment,
the contingency fund in the bond issue will not be sufficient to pay for
site development, additional change orders, furniture and equipment for
the building.
Before and during the construction period, the Park Department invested the
bond funds in certificates of deposit and earned $159.35 which we are re-
questing to be appropriated so that the King Park ,& Recreation Center can
be completed.
Very truly yours,
