Miller Mayor G. Patrick Gallagher Director, Public Safety TO: Mr. Peter Nemeth President of the Common Council January 23, 1974 Reply To: We are requesting $22,000.00 of Revenue Sharing money to replace a 1953 Seagrave tractor that pulls a 100' tiller, model 5007, serial #C6875. The mechanical condition of this piece of equipment and the fact that no replacement parts are available, has caused a considerable amount of problems with this vehicle. The aerial ladders appear substantial and serviceable for some years but the component parts that operate (hydraulic system), needs some re- working and replacement of seals, etc. We are of the opinion that the entire cost of transfer of 5th wheel equipment and the installation of air brakes to the rear wheels could be done at the above figure of $22,000.00. It would represent substantial savings to the community. A complete new aerial unit would cost approximately $100,000.00. It is my opinion that we could anticipate an additional 10 years of service by replacing the tractor. Very truly yours, it • 'f Jack R.
