CITY OF SOUTH BEND South Bend, Indiana 46601 Jerry J. Miller Mayor Rollin E. Farrand, Sr., P. E. Director, Public Works Members of the Common Council County /City Building South Bend, IN 46601 Subject: Jefferson Street Parking Garage Ramp Repair Gentlemen: Reply To: Department of Public Works October 23, 1974 The Jefferson Street Parking Garage is experiencing deterioration of the driveway ramp surface. This deterioration appears to be the result of freezing and thawing cycles during the winter months with salt in solution dripping from cars being a further con- tributing factor. The worst portions of this deterioration should be corrected prior to the coming winter season. A good two -coat sealer can be applied for 6.25¢ /square foot, and would repair spalled areas as well as seal the deck against further damage. The $3,000 herein requested will permit approximately two - thirds of the ramp area of the Jefferson Street Garage to be repaired. This will include those areas in need of immediate attention. Your favorable consideration is recommended. Very truly yours, Rollin E. Farrand, P. E. Director REF:amc
