CITY OF SOUTH BEND South Bend, Indiana 46601 Jerry J. Miller Mayor Rollin E. Farrand, Sr., P. E. Director, Public Works Members of the Common Council County /City Building South Bend, IN 46601 Gentlemen: Reply To: Department of Public Works October 8, 1974 There will be an ordinance presented for first reading on October 14, 1974, which will appropriate the sum of $53,000 from the Sewage Works Improvement Fund. These funds will be used for the purchase of a Vactor -type sewer cleaning machine with a high pressure water cleaning system. (I say Vactor -type machine because bids will be taken.) Through the addition of this equipment, Mr. Peck feels that he will be able to clean more feet of sewer per year than is presently possible utilizing his sewer drag machines. Mr. Peck has proven this ability through the utilization of his present Vactor. This additional machine will increase his efficiency to a greater extent. As we discussed during the Caucus meeting, we would plan that you cut this item from the proposed 1975 Bureau of Sanitation Budget in lieu of this proposed ordinance. If there are further questions, please feel free to contact me. Very truly yours, '- , Michael L. Vance Fiscal Officer MLV:amc
