CITY OF SOUTH BEND South Bend, Indiana 46601 Jerry J. Miller Mayor Rollin E. Farrand, Sr., P. E. Director, Public Works South Bend Common Council County /City Building, Room 441 South Bend, IN 46601 Gentlemen: Reply To: Department of Public Works August 29, 1974 The ordinance before you covers the design of two intersection areas in the City of South Bend. The evaluation and redesign of the Williams Street intersection is intended to provide for an easier and more efficient movement of traffic from Wayne Street, which is one -way westbound, to south- bound Lafayette Boulevard and to Western Avenue westbound. This design will provide a connection for West Wayne Street and will include an evaluation of adjacent intersections. The Portage Avenue intersection is a troublesome five -point inter- section with traffic movements being further complicated during the school season by the movement of school children through the intersection. Very truly yours, ,ems Rollin E. Farrand, P. E. Director REF:amc
