ORDINANCE NO.
AN ORDINANCE TO APPROPRIATE $70,000 FROM THE
LOCAL ROAD AND STREET FUND TO PROJECT R 6 S
65 LINCOLNWAY WEST AND BENDIX DRIVE INTER-
SECTION, WITHIN THE LOCAL ROADS AND STREETS
FUND.
WHEREAS, there was enacted during the 1969 Session of the Indiana
General Assembly an Act, Chapter 392 of the Acts of 1969, making available
to cities, towns and counties for engineering, construction or reconstruction
of roads, streets and bridges under local jurisdiction, certain additional
funds to be derived from the 7th and 8th cents of Indiana motor fuel tax and
fuel use tax and from increases in fees levied under the Motor Vehicle Act,
and
WHEREAS, no appropriation of such funds was included in the regular
1974 budget for the Civil City of South Bend, Indiana; and
WHEREAS, an emergency exists requiring the appropriation and
expenditure of certain of said funds already received or to be received
before the end of the year; and
WHEREAS, funds are to be appropriated for the City's matching share
from the Urban Funds.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Common Council of the City of
South Bend, Indiana:
SECTION I. The following sums of money are hereby appropriated and
ordered set apart out of the Local Road and Street Fund for the purpose of
constructing said project:

SECTION 11. This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from
and after its passage and approval as required by law.

A set of plans have been prepared for the necessary improvements of
the intersections of Lincolnway West - Bendix and Ardmore - Bendix. The
improvements are signal modernization and roadway widening.
The intersection of Bendix and Lincolnway West is scheduled for
signal modernization to include railroad preemption. The east leg
of Lincolnway West is to be widened with new curbs installed east
of Terrace Court. Bendix will receive new curbs and radii south to
Ardmore Trail.
The intersection of Ardmore and Bendix is to be signalized. The radii
will be changed and new curb installed. Ardmore is to be widened from
Kentucky to a point approximately 200' east of Bendix. The entire
project area is also scheduled for resurfacing with asphalt and
permanent marking in plastic. The entire project is to be done within
existing right -of -way.
The estimated cost of this project is approximately $200,000, and the
requested appropriation is for the LRSA portion of this cost. The
remainder of the project is to be funded from the Urban Fund.
