ORDINANCE NO.
AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING $132,000 FROM THE FEDERAL
ASSISTANCE GRANT COMMONLY REFERRED TO AS GENERAL
REVENUE SHARING FOR VARIOUS HUMAN RESOURCE PROGRAMS,
TO BE ADMINISTERED BY THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND THROUGH
ITS DEPARTMENT OF HUMAN RESOURCES.
WHEREAS, additional funds are needed by the Department of Hunan
Resources to administer certain human resource programs and to insure the
department's ability to properly perform its functions during the year of
1975.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Common Council of the City
of South Bend as follows:
SECTION I. That the sun of $132,000 is hereby appropriated for
the year of 1975 from the Federal Assistance Grant Fund, commonly known as
the General Revenue Sharing Fund. This appropriation is to be administered
by the Department of Hunan Resources and will be distributed as set forth
below:
Program FA 77 "Older Adult Comprehensive Service Center"
Account Description Amount
Properties 726.0 Real Estate $132,000
and commonly designated 622 North Michigan Street; and subject to a purchase
price which shall be not greater than the average of not less than two
appraisals by two or more members of a national appraisal association; and
including remodeling costs necessary to meet minimum state code.
SECTION II. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from
and after its passage by the Common Council, approval by the Mayor, and the
fulfillment of all statutory requirements for emergency funding.

Dear Mr. Parent:
The ordinance asking $132,000 in Revenue Sharing is for the
acquisition of property for a centralized senior citizens center to
be operated by REAL Services, Inc.
The site to be acquired with this money is at 622 N. Michigan
Street and is the one recommended by a committee composed of rep -
reserta tives of the city administration, the Common Council, and REAL
Services.
This ordinance represents a reaffirmation of a committment by
the city to develop better services for senior citizens.
Your favorable consideration will be appreciated.
