Department of Public Parks Administration Building St. Louis Boulevard at Wayne Street South Bend, Indiana 46617 PHONE: (219) 284 -9401 September 3, 1975 Mr—Roger Parentj President South.Bend Common Council County- City.:Building - 227 West Jefferson.Boulevard. South Bend, Indiana Dear Mr. Parent: The.Department of- Public Parks has been made aware, by a private heating contractor, that.the.boiler.at LaSalle Recreation Center has a cracked wall and.should.be. replaced.. The contractor.states that he feels it. would not be feasible to.repair.the.boiler, which could cost as high as .$3,000.00, and is recommending a new boiler. The Park Department plumbers agree with.the.contractors observation that a.new boiler should.be installed. The.boiler.is eight years old. It is estimated that anew boiler will cost betweeri-$6,000.00 and $8,000.00, therefore, the Park Department is.requesting $8,000.00 in Revenue Sharing to finance the cost. Since the heating season is fast approaching, I consider this ordi- nance an emergency and would appreciate favorable action by the Common Council. Very truly yours, T4ENT OF PUBLI PARKS aftoz R.
