GAMMON ORDINANCE N0. 5 8 So -7 S AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE ALLOCATION OF $205,500 OF COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT FUNDS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION AND DEVELOPMENT OF ISLAND PARK AND WHITE WATER RAPIDS. WHEREAS, one of the stated objectives of the City of South Bend's Commmity Development Plan is to develop the bank of the St. Joseph River for recreational activity, and WHEREAS, the City of South Bend has received a matching grant from the Economic Developmwnt Administration to develop Island Park and White Water Rapids, as part of the Century Center developnent, and WHEREAS, the E.D.A. grant must be matched with local or Commmity Development funds in order to be utilized, MW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED that the Gomm Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana: Hereby authorize the allocation of $205,500 from Community Development Block Grant funds, under Title I of the Housing and Community Development Act of 1974, for the construction and development of Island Park and White Water Rapids, as follows: 1st READING PUBLIC HEARING 2nd READING NOT APPROVED REFERRED PASSED Island Park $147,500 White Water Rapids $ 58,000 G- a.s --7S- 17 - /V - -2S 7 - 14 -7S I-iy-75" ® I signed only to provide an opportunity for public discussion and Council action on the issue. Director, Public Works Members of the Common Council City of South Bend, Indiana Re: Island Park and White Water Funding Gentlemen: Reply To: Department of Public Works June 18, 1975 An ordinance is being submitted appropriating $205,500 from the Community Development Block Grant Funds to be received by the City of South Bend under Title I of the Housing and Community Development Act of 1974. These funds shall be used as the City's match to Economic Development Administration grants for the construction of Island Park and the White Water Way. These projects are aspects of the overall Development of the River Corridor, a long term objective of the City of South Bend's Community Development Plan approved by the Common Council April 8, 1975, and consistent with the proposals outlined in the River Corridor Study by Lawson and Associates, accepted by the Common Council in November of 1972. The following figures represent the line item cost estimates of these projects, as ,submitted to the Economic Development Authority.
