In Re: $35,000 Revenue Sharing Fund Request
Gentlemen:
I am sure you are aware that the city's ambulances
desperately need replacement. We have carefully
examined our Para - Medical Ambulance Program, and are
proposing that one new ambulance be purchased immediately,
and the "better" of our two existing ambulances be
repaired so that it can be used one more year. We are
recommending that the city purchase a "modular" type
ambulance which would require chassis and motor replace-
ment every two years. The "box" should last for eight
to ten years. The initial cost is more, but a savings
should occur in not having to replace the entire ambulance
every two years.
We are, therefore, requesting the Council to approve
the use of $32,500 in revenue sharing funds for the purchase
of a modular type ambulance completely equipped with
emergency equipment. We also are requesting $2,500 in
revenue sharing funds to "rehabilitate" one existing
ambulance, to allow its use for one more year. The
purchase of the new ambulance would, of course, require
Board of Works action pending approval of this request.
We have also set up the "Save -A -Life Fund" to permit
the city to solicit and receive funds which would only be
used to support the city's fine ambulance service. Many

citizens in the past have generously offered to
make contributions after having received emergency
service. The new fund would make it possible to
accept such donations and insure their use only for
continuing our fine service, which has been credited
with saving a number of lives.
Your cooperation in this request and continued
support will be appreciated.
Ver truly yours,
Peter J. Nemeth
