E ER OF TH CO ON COUNCIL Passed February 9, 1976, as amended CITY OF SOUTH BEND South Bend, Indiana 46601 Jerry J. Miller Mayor Rollin E. Farrand, Sr., P. E. Director. Public Works Members of the Common Council 441 County /City Building South Bend, IN 46601 Gentlemen: Reply To: Department of Public Works November 5, 1975 An ordinance is being filed to cover the expense of renovating a build- ing on the Plaza that will serve as office space for the River Bend Plaza Office and the Century Center Office. The River Bend Plaza Office is currently housed in a building owned by the Department of Redevelopment. This building is scheduled for demolition. Problems with the wiring in this building dictate an expenditure to repair the system if the Plaza Office remains in that location. The heating, ventilating, and air - conditioning system also is in need of repair. No money has been budgeted for utilities for this location. It is recommended that no additional money be spent at this location. You may also remember that no money was budgeted for rent in the Century Center operating budget. It is the intent to seek a three -year lease for a building on the Plaza. Anticipated expenses for the first year are as follows: Rent at $300 /month maximum $ 3,600.00 Utilities 2,000.00 Renovation 9,400.00 TOTAL COST, FIRST YEAR $15,000.00 Members of the Common Council Page Two November 5, 1975 The operation of a River Bend Plaza Office on the Plaza is considered important to the continued success of the Plaza. Your favorable con- sideration of this ordinance is recommended. Very truly yours, Rollin E. Farrand, P. E.
