AN ORDINANCE APPROVING THE EXPENDITURE OF
$75,000.00 OF CU44UNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK
GRANT FUNDS FOR THE BUREAU OF ENVIRONMEN-
TAL PROTECTION.
WHEREAS, the City of South Bend has received a grant from
the Department of Housing and Urban Development under the HOUSING AND
CONIMITY DEVELOPMENT ACT Of 1974; and
WHEREAS, the application for such funds allocated funding
for the Bureau of Environmental Protection.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED, by the Comon Council of
the City of South Bend the expenditures for the following Environmental
Protection Program are approved in accordance with the stated adopted
Community Development budget:
SECTION I. CITY -WIDE DEMOLITION OF SUBSTANDARD BUILDINGS
FOR CONTRACTUALS SEVENTY -FIVE THOUSAND AND N01100 ($75,000.00)
DOLLARS.
SECTION II. This ordinance shall be in full force and
effect from and after its passage by the Council and approval by the
Mayor.

As you know, $75,000.00 has been allocated from the City of South
Bends Community Development Block Grant for demolition of vacant sub-
standard buildings. However, according to Council Resolution #476, an
ordinance approving project budgets must be approved by the Common Council
before any funds can be expended.
The attached proposed ordinance is our request to have these funds
released because they are needed to supplement our recently depleted
City Building Demolition Fund.
