AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 4207 ENTITLED
"AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE INCREASE OF SEWAGE
CHARGES TO ALL USERS OF CITY SEWER SERVICE OR CITY
WATER SERVICE FOR THE PURPOSE OF REPAIR AND /OR
REPLACEMENT OF WATER SERVICE LINES, SHUT -OFF BOXES
AND WATER METER MANHOLES, (AS AMENDED).
That Ordinance No. 4207, which ordinance was adopted on the 13th day of
January, 1958, and amended the 24th day of February, 1959 is hereby amended
further to read as follows:
Section I
That the sum of twenty -four (.24) cents per month be
added to the water service charge of all water users.
Section II
That all of said sums of money so collected be deposited
in a separate fund of the Bureau of Wastewater and that
said fund be used solely for the repair and /or replace-
ment of leaking water service lines and shut -off valves.
Section III
Funds so collected shall be used for the payment of re-
pairs and /or replacement as provided herein from the
water main to the front wall of any building, or a line
extended therefrom, but it shall not insure any water
service line under any porch, steps, slab foundation,
crawl space, or in any room or space under any sidewalk.
In the case of two inch lines or larger, the repairs
provided hereunder shall extend from the water main to
the property line only.
Section IV
Water sprinkler service lines shall not be insured under
this Ordinance. However, if the regular service line has
a lawn sprinkling connection tee in it, said service line
and the tee will be insured, but not any costs of repair
to the lawn sprinkling system proper.
Section V
The insurance of repair and /or replacement shall not be
in force on any account if the charge for such insurance
has not been paid for the last four months.
Section VI
All work performed on said repair and /or replacement of
water lines shall be in accordance with the provisions
set forth in the Plumbing Code for the City of South Bend,
Indiana. No claim for the repair of a water service line
under this Ordinance will be honored unless said repair
order is approved by the manager of the Bureau of Water.

In section five as submitted, on the third
