NEMETH, Mayor LU )a COUNTY -CITY BUILDING SOUTH BEND, INDIANA 46601 'VDIANP September 8, 1976 Members of the Common Council 441 County /City Building South Bend, IN 46601 Dear Council Members: 219/284 -9251 The Department of Public Works has completed construction of two Barrett Law Sewer Projects in accordance with State and Local regulations govern- ing such construction and financing. An ordinance has been filed appro- priating $18,850 to the Crest Manor Sewer Project and $27,150 to the Homeland Sanitary Sewer Project. Both projects were initiated at the request of affected property owners. Public hearings were held for each project to give affected property owners a chance to express their desires regarding these sewer projects. For the Homeland Sanitary Sewer Project, a reduction was made in the original project to eliminate a large area wherein the residents did not desire sewer service. The Department of Public Works is of the opinion that these projects do serve a necessary service to the affected residents and also are beneficial to the public health. Your favorable consideration of these appropriations is recommended. Very truly yours, Rollin E. Farrand, P.E.
