Mullen Director, Administration and Finance CITY of PETER SOUTH J. NEMETH, BEND Mayor COUNTY -CITY BUILDING SOUTH BEND, INDIANA 46601 Members of the Common Council Council Chambers South Bend, Indiana Dear Members of the Council: September 8, 1976 ,0' UTION% Q 2 Z W Z Q a INDION 219/284 -9742 There will be presented for your consideration, on September 12, 1976, the first reading of an ordinance appropriating the sum of $36,000.00 from Revenue Sharing. It is our intent to use these funds to speed up the city's attack on sub - standard properties. If approved, this money based on present costs will allow the city to let demolition contracts on about forty -eight structures which are presently in some phase of the legal process which leads to the demolition of a structure. We would, in emergencies, use a small portion of this money to board up condemned structures which cannot yet be demolished. Whereas the city also has some Community Development funds for demolition, which can be used in target areas, this additional money will allow the city to direct its attention to those prob- lems which are not in target areas. Your favorable consideration of this ordinance will be appreciated.
