ORDINANCE NO.
AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING $162,750.00 FROM THE
COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT GRANT FUND FOR VARIOUS
PUBLIC WORKS PROGRAMS TO BE ADMINISTERED BY THE
CITY OF SOUTH BEND THROUGH ITS DEPARTMENT OF
PUBLIC WORKS.
WHEREAS, additional funds are needed by the Department of Public
Works to administer certain public works programs and to insure the
department's ability to properly perform its functions during the year
1976.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Common Council of the City
of South Bend, Indiana, as follows:
SECTION I. The sum of $162,750.00 is hereby appropriated for
the year 1976 from the Community Development Grant Fund (1975). The
appropriation is to be administered by the Department of Public Works
and will be distributed as set forth below:
PROGRAMS CD -75 -7 & CD -7 -11
STREET, CURB, AND SIDEWALK IMPROVEMENTS

SECTION II. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect
from and after its passage by the Common Council and approval by the
Mayor.

As a result of discussions with the Department of Housing and Urban
Development, it has been determined that certain steps must be
processed and /or reprocessed through the Common Council regarding the
appropriation of funds from the first year allocation of Community
Development funds for the Department of Public Works.
The initial proposal provided for $200,000 for curb reconstruction and
$75,000 for the Walnut Street Grand Trunk Railroad approaches. It has
been determined that Council approval is now required for the expendi-
ture of $162,750, the remaining money from the original $275,000.
Projects that are being advanced to construction by the Department of
Public Works include:
Kaley, Meade and Monroe
Ford - Walnut Street Intersection
Johnson Street north of Orange Street at
specific locations
Dubail from Dale to High Streets
35th Street from one block north of Wall
Street to two blocks south of Wall Street
Scott Street from Western to Washington
St. Vincent from St. Louis to Lawrence
Leer Street from Railroad to Dubail FILED IN CLERK'S OFFICE
High Street from Sample to Ewing Avenue
1000 block of Fox and Donald Streets

Please note that this appropriation is from the first year's Community
Development funds. The programs listed above may well exceed these
funds. The utilization of second year funds will be used to complete
and add to this project list.
