AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING $200,000.00 FROM
THE FEDERAL ASSISTANCE GRANT COMMONLY RE-
FERRED TO AS GENERAL REVENUE SHARING, FOR
VARIOUS PUBLIC WORKS PROGRAMS, TO BE ADMINI-
STERED BY THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND THROUGH
ITS BUREAU OF STREETS.
WHEREAS, additional funds are needed by the Bureau of
Streets to administer certain street improvement programs and
to ensure the Department's ability to properly perform its
function during the year 1977.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Common Council of
the City of South Bend, as follows:
SECTION I. That the sum of $200,000.00 is hereby
appropriated for the year of 1977 from the Federal Assistance
Grant Fund, commonly known as the General Revenue Sharing Fund.
This appropriation is to be administered by the Bureau of
Streets and will be distributed as set forth below:

SECTION II. This Ordinance shall be in full force and
effect from and after its passage by the Common Council,
approval by the Mayor, and the fulfillment of all statutory
requirements for emergency funding.

Dear Councilmen:
The attached ordinance requesting $200,000 from Revenue Shar-
ing monies is intended to address the material needs of the
Street Department during the 1977 Summer Work Program.
This appropriation will allow us to purchase bituminous and
slurry material in sufficient quantity to meet our 1977 needs.
Your favorable action is requested.
