AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING $11,500.00 FROM THE
CUMULATIVE CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT FUND, LINE ITEM
NO. 260.0, AND $103,500.00 FROM THE LOCAL ROAD
AND STREET FUND TO PROJECT R & S 93, EDISON ROAD
IMPROVEMENT, WITHIN THE LOCAL ROAD AND STREET
FUND.
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND INTENT:
In order to bring Edison Road, from Ironwood Drive to Hickory Road,
up to the standards necessary to meet existing traffic needs, certain im-
provements have been proposed.
Funds are now needed to pay the cost of the construction of these im-
provements. These funds are available from the Cumulative Capital Improve-
ment Fund and the Local Road and Street Fund for these purposes.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH
BEND, INDIANA:
SECTION I: The following sums of money are hereby appropriated and
ordered to be set apart out of the Cumulative Capital Improvement Fund and
the Local Road and Street Fund for the project in the amounts set forth
below:

RE: R & S 93 - Edison Road Improvement
Dear Councilmen:

The attached ordinance, appropriating a total of $115,000, will enable
the Board of Public Works to enter into a construction contract for the
widening and reconstruction of Edison Road from Ironwood Drive to Hickory
Road.
This existing roadway is in a very poor state of repair. It is proposed
that curbing and widening be installed in those areas along this section
of Edison Road at which they presently do not exist, and that the entire
roadway be resurfaced.
The City of Mishawaka has indicated that they are interested in pursuing
the redesign and possible signalization of the intersection of Hickory and
Edison Roads. The total appropriation of $115,000 includes monies sufficient
to address approximately one - quarter of this estimated reconstruction
activity at the intersection.
