Ugcl =r17 AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING $5,850.00 FROM THE LOCAL ROADS AND STREETS FUND AND $650.00 FROM THE CUMULATIVE CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT FUND TO PROJECT P, & S 89 -1976, COLFAX AVENUE BRIDGE. WHEREAS, there was enacted during the 1969 Session of the Indiana General Assembly an Act, Chapter 392 of the Acts of 1969, making available to cities, towns and counties for engineering, construction or reconstruc- tion of roads, streets and bridges under local jurisdiction, certain additional funds to be derived from the 7th and 8th cents of Indiana Motor Fuel Tax and Fuel -Use Tax and from increases in fees levied under the Motor Vehicle Act; and WHEREAS, no appropriation of such funds was included in the regular 1976 budget for the Civil City of South Bend, Indiana; and WHEREAS, an emergency exists requiring the appropriation and expen- diture of certain of said funds already received or to be received before the end of the year 1976; and WHEREAS, funds have been appropriated for the City's matching funds. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana: SECTION I. The following sums of money are hereby appropriated and set apart out of the Local Roads and Streets Fund, and the Cumulative Capital Improvement Fund for engineering costs on the following project. R & S 89 -1976 - COLFAX AVENUE BRIDGE Local Roads and Streets Fund $5,850.00 Cumulative Capital Improvement Fund 650.00 TOTAL APPROPRIATION $6,500.00 SECTION II. NEMETH, Mayor LU COUNTY -CITY BUILDING SOUTH BEND, INDIANA 46601 v 0DION December 6, 1976 Members of the Common Council 441 County /City Building South Bend, IN 46601 Subject: Project R & S 89 Dear Councilmen: 219/284 -9251 An ordinance is being submitted appropriating an additional sum of $6,500 to pay for engineering on this project. At the time the initial appropriation for this purpose was made, it was explained that the City and the Consultant were still working with the State to completely define the extent of the reconstruction of the Colfax Avenue Bridge that would be required. Some additional funds might be necessary, depending upon the scope of the project. This project has now been completely defined and the engineering costs identified. The sum of $6,500 is needed to pay for the engineering over and above that covered by the initial appropriation. Your favorable consideration is recommended. Very truly yours, Rollin E. Farrand, P.E.
