AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING $200,000.00
FROM THE FEDERAL ASSISTANCE GRANT COMMONLY
REFERRED TO AS GENERAL REVENUE SHARING, FOR
CIVIC CENTER EQUIPMENT, TO BE ADMINISTERED
BY THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND THROUGH THE DE-
PARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS.
WHEREAS, additional funds are needed by the Department of
Public Works to ensure the Department's ability to properly per-
form its function during 1977.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Common Council of the
City of South Bend as follows:
SECTION I. That the sum of $200,000.00 is hereby
appropriated for the year 1977 from the
Federal Assistance Grant Fund commonly
known as the General Revenue Sharing
Fund. This appropriation is to be
administered by the Department of
Public Works and will be distributed
as set forth below:

260.0 Other Contractuals 3,000.00

SECTION II. This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect
after its passage by the Common Council, approval by the Mayor, and
the fulfillment of all statutory requirements.

The attached ordinance concerns the appropriation of a total of $200,000 of
General Revenue Sharing Funds for the following furnishing expenditures in
Century Center:
A) Movable Partitions - $145,540.
Bids were received in August of 1975 for the movable partitions
scheduled for the convention facilities. The low bid of $145,540.
was extended until December 31, 1976 for acceptance. This work in-
cludes not only the large partition which will divide the main
convention hall, but also the eight smaller partitions which divide
the lower level meeting rooms.
B) Graphics & Signage - $25,000.
This work consists of all interior signage, directory information,
and an exterior marquee. Proposals are currently being solicited for
these items. It is estimated that a budget of $25,000. is sufficient
to address this area.
C) Theatre Equipment - Lighting $29,460.
This figure of $29,460 is to be applied to purchase lighting equipment
and associated fixtures for use in the theatre. This equipment can
also be used in the courtyard and convention hall for events requiring
special lighting effects.

It should be noted that this request of $200,000 is contrasted against $1.4
million in 1976 and $1.7 million prior to 1976 for capital expenditures from
Revenue Sharing Funds toward Century Center.
