ORDINANCE N0, l QS 7- 76
AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING $10,000.00 FROM THE
COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT GRANT FUND, FOR VARIOUS
PUBLIC PARKS PROGRAMS, TO BE ADMINISTERED BY
THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND THROUGH ITS DEPARTMENT
OF PUBLIC PARKS.
WHEREAS, additional funds are needed by the Department of Public
Parks to administer certain public parks programs and to insure the de-
partment's ability to properly perform its functions during the year 1976.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Common Council of the City
of South Bend as follows:
SECTION I. The sum of $10,000.00 is hereby appropriated for the
year 1976 from the Community Development Grant Fund. This appropriation is
to be administered by the Department of Public Parks and will be distributed
as set forth below:

SECTION II. This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from
and after its passage by the Common Council, approval by the Mayor, and the
fulfillment of all statutory requirements for emergency appropriation.

Dear Mr. Parent:
The Department of Public Parks is requesting the Common Council
to approve the enclosed ordinance in the amount of $10,000.00
for the resurfacing of the four tennis courts at Walkerfield.
Tennis is probably the fastest growing participant activity in
the area and Walkerfield is one of the most heavily used courts
in the park system.
The courts at Walkerfield are in very poor condition and the re-
surfacing of these tennis courts are one of our high priorities.
Your approval of this ordinance is needed to improve our overall
tennis program.
