ORDINANCE NO. 6056 -76
AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING $15,000.00 FROM THE
COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT GRANT FUND, FOR VARIOUS
PUBLIC PARKS PROGRAMS, TO BE ADMINISTERED BY
THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND THROUGH ITS DEPARTMENT
OF PUBLIC PARKS.
WHEREAS, additional funds are needed by the Department of
Public Parks to administer certain public parks 'programs and to
insure the department's ability to properly perform its functions
during the year 1976.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Common Council of
the City of South Bend as follows:
SECTION I. The sum of $15,000.00 is hereby appropriated
for the year 1976 from the Community Development Grant Fund.
This appropriation is to be administered by the Department of
Public Parks and will be distributed as set forth below:

SECTION II. This ordinance shall be in full force and
effect from and after its passage by the Common Council, approval
by the Mayor, and the fulfillment of all statutory requirements
for emergency appropriation.

Dear Mr. Parent:
The Department of Public Parks is requesting the Common Council
to approve the enclosed ordinance, in the amount of $15,000.00,
for the construction of two basketball courts at Coquillard Park.
Basketball is very popular in the area of Coquillard Park. The
only available goals in the area are two separate basketball goals
behind Perley School which is contiguous to Coquillard Park.
The request, for the basketball courts, was presented at a public
hearing on the use of Community Development Funds. The Northeast
Neighborhood Association strongly supports the construction of the
basketball courts at Coquillard Park.
The additional basketball courts fits into our long range planning
for park and recreation facilities in the area.
