AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING THE SUM OF $15,000 TO
LINE ITEM 260.0, CONTRACTUAL SERVICES, WITHIN THE
CUMULATIVE SEWER BUILDING AND SINKING FUND, TO BE
ADMINISTERED BY THE BUREAU OF STREETS IN THE RE-
PAIR OF SEWER STRUCTURES AND RELATED RECONSTRUCTION.
WHEREAS, an additional appropriation of $15,000 is necessary for
Account No. 260.0, Other Contractual Services, within the Cumulative
Sewer Building and Sinking Fund, in order to meet the Department's
obligations during 1976.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Common Council of the City
of South Bend, Indiana:
SECTION I.

That the sum of $15,000 is hereby appropriated as

SECTION II. This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect
from and after its adoption by the Common Council, its approval by the
Mayor, and the fulfillment of all statutory requirements for additional
appropriations.

The Bureau of Streets repairs all utility cuts made by the Bureau of
Sanitation. In addition, the Bureau of Streets makes certain minor
street repairs associated with surface drainage, e.g., curb and gutter
repair. Because of the unusually large number of sewer cave -ins that
have occurred during a summer of unusually heavy rain, the Bureau of
Streets is faced with the necessity of replacing concrete for this
repair work in excess of the amount covered by the budget and pre-
vious appropriations.
Your favorable consideration of this appropriation is requested so
that the Bureau of Sanitation and the Bureau of Streets may proceed
with their normal program to repair and maintain essential services
to the citizens of South Bend.
