GAMMON Approved and signed by me as 19 2 Clerk ORDINANCE NO. G I AN ORDINANCE FIXING THE ANNUAL PAY OF POLICEMEN FOR THE CALENDAR YEAR 1978. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, as follows: SECTION I. The annual pay of the officers and members of.the Police Department of the City of South Bend for the year 1978, by rank, classification, and service years, shall be according to the 1978 Police Salary Schedule as follows: Police Chief . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . $19,850 Division Chiefs . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 18,200 Captains . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 16,650 Lieutenants . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 15,150 Sergeants . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 13,850 Corporal . . . . . . . . . . . . The first service year for a police officer commen- ces upon his being sworn in as a police officer. The police officer shall obtain his second service year on the next succeeding first day of January until he attains the maximum salary for the particu- lar rank he may hold. SECTION II. In addition to the foregoing annual pay, the officers and members of the Police Department shall receive compensation for extra duty and special performance as follows: (a) For time spent in court appearances and over- time, work as determined by the Chief of Police, $5 per hour. A police officer is automatically paid the $5 per hour. When a police officer is recalled for overtime, he /she shall be paid a sum repre- senting not less than two hours overtime, except when the overtime worked is an extension of the officer's regular work shift. (b) For personnel required to work on legal holidays, $32 per holiday worked; this shall apply to the following holidays and no others: New Year's Day Fourth of July Lincoln's Birthday Labor Day Washington's Birthday Columbus Day Good Friday Veteran's Day Easter Sunday Thanksgiving Memorial Day Christmas PAGE 2 POLICE ORDINANCE FOR 1978 CON'T. (c) For night incentive and hazard pay, $300 per year. (d) Each officer shall be paid a Gun and I.D. Allowance (G.I.D.) of one hundred dollars ($100) per year. The G.I.D. allowance shall be paid to each sworn officer on or before July 15, 1978. SECTION III. The Common Council recommends that the sworn members of the Police Department clothing allowance be $325 per year. The clothing allowance shall be paid to each sworn officer on or before July 15, 1978. SECTION IV. The Common Council recommends that the advancement of rank from Patrolman First Class to Corporal be after three (3) complete years upon satisfactory performance of duty and promotion by the Board of Safety. SECTION V.
