AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING $53,200.00 FROM
THE FEDERAL ASSISTANCE GRANT, COMMONLY RE-
FERRED TO AS GENERAL REVENUE SHARING FOR
VARIOUS PUBLIC SAFETY PROGRAMS TO BE ADMIN-
ISTERED BY THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND THROUGH
THE DEPARTMENT OF ADMINISTRATION AND FINANCE.
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND INTENT:
Additional funds are needed by the Bureau of Environ-
mental Control to administer certain Public Safety Programs and
to ensure the Department's ability to properly perform its
functions during the year 1978.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INIDANA, AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION I. The sum of $53,200.00 is hereby appro-
priated for the year 1978 from the Federal Assistance Grant Fund,
commonly known as the General Revenue Sharing Trust Fund. This
appropriation is to be administered by the Department of Admin-
istration and Finance and will be distributed as set forth below:

SECTION II. This Ordinance shall be in full force and
effect from and after its passage by the Common Council, approval
by the Mayor and the fulfillment of all statutory requirements
for emergency appropriations.

Attached is a Revenue Sharing Ordinance in the amount of
$53,200.00 to be paid to the Humane Society in accordance
with the contract signed by the Board of Works on the 12th
of December, 1977. This contract is for services provided
to the City of South Bend for the picking up and housing
of stray animals within the city.
The Revenue Sharing Ordinance calls for a $53,200.00 con-
tract to be broken down as $52,000.00 for the actual ser-
vicing and housing of our stray animals, as well as $1,200.00
for the emergency service that they shall be doing for us
after hours during the course of 1978.
Your approval of this ordinance will be appreciated.
