Council- man Korpal, President, presided. REPORT OF THE COMMITTEE ON MINUTES To The Common Council of the City of South Bend: Your Committee on the inspection and supervision of the minutes, would respectfully report that they have inspected the minutes of the previous meeting of the Council and found them correct. Councilman Kroll made a motion that the report be accepted and placed on file. Councilman Hahn seconded the motion. Motion carried. PETITION Petition of Colpaert Realty Corporation by Jones, Obenchain and Ford, their Attorneys, to rezone land bounded by Western Avenue, Lombardy Drive, Huron Street and.the alley West of Gladstone. Councilman Erler made a motion that the petition go to the City Planning Commission. Councilman Glass seconded the motion. Motion carried. PETITION Petition of Belleville Investment Company to rezone land abutting on Scenic Drive from Ford Street to Mayflower Road. Councilman Carr made a motion that'the petition go to the City Planning Commission, Councilman Kroll seconded the motion. Motion carried. REPORT OF THE COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE: To the Common Council of the City of South Bend: Your Committee of the whole to whom was referred An Ordinance appropriating from the General Fund $2,175.00, to Police Department P -331 Gasoline $2,000.00 and to office of the City Judge E216 A Transportation Allowance - Bailiff $50.00, and to office of City Judge E 216 B, Transportation Allowance - Probation Officer $125.00, Respectfully report that they have examined the matter and that in their opinion it should be reported favorable. George W. Carr, Chairman Councilman Glass made a motion that the report be accepted and placed on file. Councilman Kroll seconded the motion. Motion carried. 1194 ;ULAR MEETING ORDINANCE NO. 4129 NOVEMBER 26th, 1956 AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING FROM THE GENERAL FUND $2,175.00 TO POLICE DEPARTMENT ACCOUNT P -331- Gasoline, $2,000.00, AND TO OFFICE OF THE CITY JUDGE ACCOUNT E- 216 -A, Transportation Allowance- Bailiff, $50.00, AND TO OFFICE OF CITY JUDGE ACCOUNT E -216 -B Transportation Allowance - Proba- tion Officer $125.00, ALL OF THE BUDGET FOR THE CIVIL CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, FOR 1956 AND DECLARING AN EXTRAORDINARY - EMERGENCY. The Ordinance was given third reading and passed by a roll call vote of 8 ayes, 0 nays, 1 absent, Councilman Muszyn- ski. ORDINANCE NO. 4130 AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, TO MAKE A MODIFICATION AGREEMENT TO LEASE CERTAIN REAL ESTATE PROPERTY TO THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA The Ordinance was given first reading by title and second reading in full. Councilman Carr made a motion for sus- pension of rules. Councilman Kroll seconded the motion. Motion carried by a roll call vote of 8 ayes, 0 nays, 1 absent (Councilman Muszynski). The Ordinance was given third reading and passed by a roll call vote of 8 ayes, 0 nays, 1 absent (Councilman Muszynski). ORDINANCE AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING FROM THE PENERAL FUND $75.00 TO OFFICE OF THE CITY JUDGE,ACCOUNT E -13; PAUPER ATTORNEY, ALL OF THE BUDGET FOR THE CIVIL CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, FOR 1956 AND DECLARING AN EXTRAORDINARY EMERGENCY. The Ordinance was given first reading by title and second reading`in full. Councilman Carr made a motion that the ordinance ba set for public hearing on December 10, 1956. Councilman Kroll seconded the motion. Motion carried. ORDINANCE NO. 4131 AN ORDINANCE APPROVING THE OFFICIAL BONDS OF CLEMENT C. FIWEK, AS TREASURER ELECT FOR THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, AND AS BARRETT LAW FUND CUSTODIAN, BY THE AETNA INSURANCE COMPANY OF HARTFORD, CONNECTICUT, AS SURETY, FOR A PERIOD COMMENCING JANUARY 1, 1957, and TERMINATING JANUARY 1, 1961. 1 The Ordinance was given first reading by title and second reading in full. RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING CERTAIN PAYMENTS TO BE MADE TO SALARIED CITY EMPLOYEES WHEREAS, the City of South Bend, Indiana, is approaching the close of its fiscal year, and, WHEREAS, the office of the City Controller will be required to make numerous payments and close its numerous and complicated accounts; and, WHEREAS, it is desirable that the.work of said office be simplified when possible; now, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana; SECTION 1. That all salaried officers and employees of the City shall be paid their salaries for the month of December, 1956, on the 20th day of said month. SECTION.2. The Controller of the City of South Bend is hereby authorized to make said salary payments upon said date. SECTION 3. This Resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage by the Common Council and approval by the Mayor. Councilman Hahn made a motion that the Resolution be adopted. Councilman Carr seconded the motion. Motion carried by a roll call vote of 8 ayes, 0 nays, 1 absent (Councilman Muszynski). Councilman Tellson spoke about Hungarian Relief and asked about the adoption of a resolution for a tag day. Mr. Irving Smith, City Attorney, stated that the Council would not pass Resolutions concerning tag days but that the Board of Public Works and Safety should be contacted in regard to this matter. Councilman Glass made a motion that a letter of appreciation be sent to the Commanding Officer at Loewry Air Base in Colafados, for the courtesy extended the Councilman and other City Officials who visited there. Councilman Kroll seconded the motion. Motion carried. There being no further business before the Council, Councilman Carr made a motion to adjourn. Councilman Kroll seconded the motion.
