JULY 30TH, 1956
Be it remembered that the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, met in Special Session in the Council
Chamber on Monday, July 30th, 1956, at 8:28 P.M., C.D.S.T. (7:28 P.M., C.S.T.), with all members present except
Councilman Muszynski.

CALL FOR SPECIAL MEETING
To The President and Members of the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana:
Gentlemen:
You are hereby notified that under and by virtue of the authority vested in me by law as Mayor of the City
of South Bend, in the State of Indiana, a Special Meeting of the Common Council of said City is hereby called to meet
in the (Council Chamber, in the City Hall at the hour of 7 :00 P.M. (CST - 8:00 P.M. CDST) on Monday, July 30, 1956,
for the purpose of considering the following ordinances, to -wit:
" AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING MONIES FOR THE PURPOSE OF DEFRAYING THE EXPENSES OF ALL BUDGET - OPERATED
DEPARTMENTS OF THE CIVIL CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, FOR THE FISCAL YEAR BEGINNING JANUARY 1,
1957, INCLUDING DEPARTMENTS, FUNDS AND COMMISSIONS FOR WHICH MONEY IS APPROPRIATED, IN WHOLE OR
IN PART, FROM FUNDS OTHER THAN THE GENERAL FUNDS OF SAID CITY, TO -WIT: STREET, TRAFFIC AND PARK
DEPARTMENTS, FIREMEN'S PENSION AND POLICEMEN'S PENSION FUNDS, AND THE CITY PLAN COMMISSION: PRO-
VIDING THAT SUCH APPROPRIATIONS SHALL INCLUDE ALL OUTSTANDING CLAIMS AND OBLIGATIONS: FIXING THE
SALARIES OF ALL CITY OFFICIALS AND EMPLOYEES: REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES AND PARTS OF ORDINANCES
IN CONFLICT HEREWITH: PROVIDING A TIME WHEN THE SAME SHALL TAKE EFFECT"

.The Chief of Police or any member of the Police Force is hereby directed to forthwith serve a copy of this
notice on each and every member of the Common Council and make due return of such service of said Special Meeting.

Councilman Carr made a motion that the call be accepted and placed on file. Councilman Erler seconded the motion.
Motion carried.
ORDINANCE
AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING MONIES FOR THE PURPOSE OF DEFRAYING THE EXPENSES OF ALL BUDGET - OPERATED

APPROPRIATED, IN WHOLE OR IN PART, FROM FUNDS OTHER THAN THE GENERAL FUNDS, OF SAID CITY, TO -WIT:

The Ordinance was given first reading by title and second reading in full. Councilman Erler made a motion that the
Ordinance be adbeft.sed,on-August 3rd -and August`1Qth, for public Hearing in the Committee of the Whole on August
27th, 1956. Councilman Kroll seconded the motion. Motion carried.
ORDINANCE
AN ORDINANCE FIXING THE TAX LEVY FOR THE YEAR 1957 FOR THE CIVIL CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA
The Ordinance was given first reading by title and second reading in full. Councilman. Carr made a motion that the
Ordinance be advertised on August 3rd and August 10th, for. public hearing in the Committee of the Whole on August
27th, 1956. Councilman Kroll seconded the motion. Motion carried.
There being no further business before the Council, Councilman Hahn made a motion to adjourn, which motion was
seconded by Councilman Carr. Motion carried and the Special meeting adjo ned at 8 :42 P.M. C.D.S.T.
