STATE OF INDIANA ) . ) SS: CITY OF SOUTH BEND j CALL FOR SPECIAL MEETING To the President, and members of the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, Gentlemen: You are hereby notified that under and by virtue of the authority vested in me by law as Mayor of the City of South Bend, In the State of Indiana, a special meeting of the Common Council of said City is hereby called to meet in the Council Chamber, in the City Hall, at the hour of 8:00 P.M., C.D.S.T., (7:00 P.M., C.S.T.) on Wednesday, June 27, 1956, for the purpose of considering the following matters, to -wit: COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE #1. An Ordinance transferring and appropriating from Office of City Clerk C -36 Office Supplies $200.00 to C -725 Office Equipment (typewriter) $200.00 From Fire Department Q -11 Services Personal $10000.00 to Fire Department Q -724 Motor Equipment $5,300.00 to Q -726 Other Equipment $2,000.00 to Q -331 Gasoline, $2,000.00 all of the Budget for the Civil City of South Bend, Indiana for 1956 and declaring an extraordinary emergency. #2.'-An Ordinance of the City of South Bend, Indiana appropriating the sum of One Million Dollars ($1,000,000.00) to be applied to the cost of construction, reconstruction and improvement of Streets, and expenses incurred in connection therewith. REGULAR MEETING -- #3. Minutes #4. Communications: Communication from National Association Advancement for Colored People #5. Petitions: Petition of C. W. Marosz, et al, for rezoning lot 4 in Rupel's Second Addition and Lots 1, 2 and 3 in Moon's First Addition from "B" Residential to "C" Commercial. #6 Report of Committee of the Whole SPECIAL MEETING JUNE 27th, 1956 #7. Ordinances, First and Second Reading An Ordinance approving a contract between the South Bend Water Works and International Harvester for one (1) 2Z ton truck. The Chief of Police or a member of the Polic Force is hereby directed to forthwith serve a copy of this notice on each and every member of the Common Council and make due return of such service of said special meeting. REPORT OF COMMITTEE ON MINUTES: To the Common Council of the City of South Bend: Your Committee on the inspection and supervision of the minutes, would respectfully report that they have inspected the minutes of the previous meeting of the Council and found them correct. They therefore recommend that the same be approved. GEORGE W. CARR JULIUS B. CHRISTMAN, JR. STANLEY C. KORPAL Meeting of June 13th, 1956. Councilman Kroll made a motion that the report be accepted and placed on file, which motion was seconded by Council- man Muszynski. Motion carried. COMMUNICATION: A communication from National Association for the Advancement of Colored People was read-by the Clerk. Councilman Erler made a motion that the Communication be accepted and placed on file. Motion seconded by Councilman Hahn. Motion carried. PETITIONS: Petition from C. W. Marosz, et al, to rezone Lot 4 in Rupel's Second Addition and Lots 1, 2 and 3 in Moon's First Addition from "B" Residential t6 "C" Commercial. Motion by Councilman Hahn, seconded by Councilman Carr, that the petition be referred to the City Planning Com- mission. Motion carried. REPORT OF COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE':' To the Common Council of the City of South Bend: Your Committee of the Whole, to whom was referred An Ordinance transferring and appropriating•from Office of City Clerk C -36. Office Supplies, $200.00, to Office of City Clerk, C -725, Office Equipment, (Typewriter $200.00); from Fire Department, Q -11 SERvice -Per- sonal, $10,300.00: To Fire Department, Q -724, Motor Equipment, $5300.00 (Two Passenger cars and one truck); To Fire Department Q -726, Other Equipment, $3,000.00 (Fire Hose); To Fire Department, Q -331, Gasoline $2000.00, all of the budget for the Civil City of South Bend, Indiana for 1956, and declaring an extraordinary emergency., respectfully seport that they have exzmked the matter that that in their opinion it should be reported favorable. GEORGE W. CARR, Chairman Motion by Councilman Glass, seconded by Councilman Kroll, that the report be accepted and placed on file. Motion carried. 1153 SPECIAL MEETING REPORT OF THE COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE: To the Common Council of the City of South Bend: JUNE 27th, 1956 Your Committee of the Whole to whom was referred An Ordinance of the City of South Bend, Indiana, appropriating the sum of One Million Dollars ($1,000,000.00) to be applied to the cost of construction, re- construction and im- provement of streets , and expenses incurred in connection therewith, respectfully report that they have examined the matter and that in their opinion, it should be reported favorable, as amended. GEORGE W. CARR, CHAIRMAN Motion by /Councilman Tellson, seconded by Councilman Hahn, that the report be accepted and placed on file. Motion carried. ORDINANCE NO. 4099 AN ORDINANCE TRANSFERRING AND APPROPRIATING FROM OFFICE OF CITY CLERK, C -36, OFFICE SUPPLIES, $200.00, TO OFFICE OF CITY CLERK, C -725, OFFICE EQUIPMENT (TYPEWRITER $200.00); FROM FIRE DEPARTMENT, Q -11, SERVICE - PERSONAL, $10,300.00: TO FIRE DEPARTMENT, Q -724, MOTOR EQUIPMENT, $5300.00 (Two Passenger cars and one truck); TO FIRE DEPARTMENT, Q -726, OTHER EQUIPMENT, $3,000.00 (fire hose); TO FIRE DEPARTMENT, Q -331, GASOLINE, $2000.00, ALL OF THE BUDGET FOR THE CIVIL CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, FOR 1956 AND DECLARING AN EXTRAORDINARY EMERGENCY. The ordinance was given third reading and passed by a roll call vote of 9 ayes, 0 nays. ORDINANCE NO. 4100 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, APPROPRIATING THE SUM OF ONE MILLION DOLLARS ($1,000,000.00) TO BE APPLIED TO THE COST OF CONSTRUCTION, RE- CONSTRUCTION AND IMPROVEMENT OF STREETS, AND EXPENSES INCURRED IN CONNECTION THEREWITH, AS AMENDED. The Ordinance was given third reading and passed by a roll call vote of 9 ayes, 0 nays. ORDINANCE NO. 4101 AN ORDINANCE APPROVING THE CONTRACT BETWEEN THE SOUTH BEND CITY WATER WORKS AND INTERNATIONAL HARVESTER FOR THE PURCHASE OF ONE (1) TWO AND ONE HALF TON TRUCK (22) The ordinance was given first reading by title and second reading in full:. Motion by Councilman Hahn for suspension of rules. Motion seconded by Councilman Christman. Motion carried by a roll call vote of 9 ayes, 0 nays. The Ordinance was given third reading and passed by a roll call vote of 9 ayes, 0 nays. There being no further business before the Council, Councilman Carr made a motion to adjourn, which motion was seconded by Councilman Kroll.
