President Korpal presided. REPORT OF COMMITTEE ON MINUTES To the Common Council of the City of South Bendu Your Committee on the inspection and supervision of the minutes would respectfully report that they have inspected the minutes of the previous meeting of the Council and found them correct. They, therefore, recommend that the same be approved. GEORGE W. CARR STANLEY C. KORPAL COMMITTEE JULIUS B. CHRISTMAN, JR. South Bend, Ind., June 11, 1956. COMMUNICATION A Communication from Governor Craig was read by the Clerk. The communication concerned the Toll Road By -pass. Councilman Carr made a motion that the communication be accepted and placed on file. Councilman Kroll seconded the motion. Motion carried. PETITION PETITION TO AMEND AND SUPPLEMENT ZONING ORDINANCE NO. 3702, AS HERETOFORE AMENDED, OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND TO THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA: The undersigned owners hereby petition your honorable body to amend and supplement Zoning Ordinance No. 3702, as heretofore amended, of the City of South Bend, Indiana, by zoning the following.described property as "A" Residence District and "A" Height and Area District" Beginning at the southeast corner of Lot 375, Twyckenham Hills, Section "G" present city limits; thence north along the west line of the east half of the southeast quarter (SE4) of gEction 19. The undersigned owners further petition your honorable body to amend and supplement Zoning Ordinance No. 3702, as heretofore amended, of the City of South Bend, Indiana, by zoning the above parcel 1, "C -2" Commercial District, and by zoning the above Parcel 2; "B" Residence District and "B" Height and Area District. There accompanies this petition a proposed Ordinance amending and supplementing Zoning Ordinance No. 3702, as heretofore amended, to zone such property in accordance with this petition. AN ORDINANCE TRANSFERRING AND APPROPRIATING FROM OFFICE OF CITY CLERK, C -36, OFFICE SUPPLIES, 8g200.00 TO OFFICE OF CITY CLERK, C -725, OFFICE EQUIPMENT (Typewriter $200.00); FROM FIRE I�EPARTMANT, Q -11, SERVICES- PERSONAL, $10,300.00: TO FIRE DEPARTMENT, Q -724, MOTOR EQUIPMENT, REGULAR MEETING 1150 JUNE 11th, 1956 $5,300.00 (Two passenger cars and one truck); TO FIRE DEPARTMENT, Q -726, OTHER EQUIPMENT, $3,000.00 (Fire Hose); TO FIRE DEPARTMENT, Q -331, GASOLINE, $2,000.00, ALL OF THE BUDGET FOR THE CIVIL CITY OF SOUTH-BEND, INDIANA, FOR 1956 AND DECLARING AN EXTRAORDINARY EMERGENCY. The Ordinance was given first reading by title and second reading in full. Motion by Councilman Erler and seconded by Councilman Muszynski that this ordinance be set for public hearing on June 27th, ^1956. Motion carried. ORDINANCE AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, APPROPRIATING THE SUM OF ONE MILLION DOLLARS ($1,000,000.00) TO BE APPLIED TO THE COST OF CONSTRUCTION, RE_ CONSTRUCTION AND IMPROVEMENT OF STREETS, AND EXPENSES INCURRED IN CONNECTION THEREWITH. The Ordinance was given first reading by title and second reading in full. Motion by Councilman Hahn and seconded by Councilman Carr that this ordinance be set for public hearing on June 27th, 1956. Motion carried. UNFINISHED BUSINESS Mr. Hammerschmidt, Attorney, thanked the Committee for cooperating in investigations being made relative to the proposed Housing Authority Ordinance. Mr. George Carr-,, Chairman of the Committee to investigate Housing, thanked the members of the Committee and the City Officials who have been working so dilligently on this program. He stated that the report is not yet ready. Councilman Hahn made a motion that the matter remain in Committee until the next Council Meeting, June 27th, 1956. Councilman Carr seconded the motion. Motion carried. NEW BUSINESS, A group of Youths representing the various High Schools appeared before the Council and asked for permission to establish a Youth Council to be composed of representatives of all High Schools, as well as other Church and Youth Groups. After some discussion, President Korpal appointed a committee to meet with the group to discuss forms of organization. The Committee consists of Councilman Kroll, Chairman and Councilmen Carr and Glass. The Committee is "to report to the Council on July 9, 1956. The Youth Group was led by Don Illes, Central High School Graduate of.1956, who resides at 1647 N. Freemont Street, South Bend, Indiana. Councilman Tellson read a letter from General Mark Clark relative to a memorial to Colonel Michael DeKovats. Councilman Tellson made a motion that the communication be accepted and placed on file. Councilman Muszynski second- ed the motion. Motion carried. Councilman Erler made a motion that.the next regular meeting of the Council to`be held June 25th, 1956, be post- poned and that a Call for a Special Meeting be made for June 27th, 1956. Motion was seconded by Councilman Carr. Motion carried. There being no further business before the Council, Councilman Carr made a motion to adjourn. Councilman Hahn seconded the motion.
