HomeMy WebLinkAbout12-12-55 Council Meeting MinutesREGULAR MEETING DECEMBER 12TH, 1955 The Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana,met in the Council Chamber on the 12th day of December, 1955, at the hour of 8:00 P.M., in regular session in accordance with the rules of the Council. The meeting was called to order by President, Walter C. Erler, Sr., who presided. Present: Councilmen Walter C. Erler, Stanley Korpal, Michael Pinter, Cloyd Bestle, Clem Niezgodski, William Hahn and Chester Muszynski. Absent: Walter Glass. REPORT OF COMMITTEE ON MINUTES To the Common Council of the City of South Bend: Your Committee on the inspection and supervision of the minutes, would respectfully report that they have inspected the minutes of the previous meeting of the Council and found them correct. RAHN ) Councilman Muszynski moved that the report be accepted and placed on file. Councilman Hahn seconded the motion. Motion carried. PETITION Petition.of Standard Oil Company to rezone& certain parcel of land located in the City of South Bend, described as follows, to -wit: All of Lot Numbered Eight (8) as shown on the Recorded Plat of A. H. Cushing Addition to the City of South Bend, County of St. Joseph „ State of Indiana, and a strip of land thirpy -thre6 feet and six inches (3316 ") north and south taken off of and from the entire west side of Lot Numbered Seven (7) as shown on the'Recorded Plat of A. H. Cushing Addition to the City of South Bend, St. Joseph County, State of Indiana, from "B" Residence District and "B" Height and Area District to "C" Commercial District and "C" Height and Area District. Councilman Korpal moved that the petition be referred to the City Plan Commission. Councilman Hahn seconded the motion. Motion carried. Councilman Hahn seconded the motion. Motion carried. REPORT OF ORDINANCE COMMITTEE To the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana December 12th, 1955 REPORT OF THE ORDINANCE COMMITTEE Your Ordinance Committee to whom was referred AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 2243 COMMONLY KNOWN AS THE BUILDING CODE Of THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, AND MORE PARTICULARLY REPEALING SECTION 37a AND ANY AMENDMENTS THERETO, KNOWN AS THE SECTION ESTABLISHING FEES FOR BUILDING PERMITS, AND ENACTING IN LIEU THEREOF A NEW SECTION 37a ON THE SAME SUBJECT, AND FIXING A TIME WHEN THE SAME SHALL TAKE EFFECT, has made a study of this Ordinance and recommends that this Ordinance be "killed" and that a new Ordinance incorporating all of the amendments to Ordinance 2243 be submitted to the Council;. Motion carried. Councilman Hahn moved that the next regular meeting of the Council be postponed until January 9th, 1956. Councilman Korpal seconded the motion. Motion carried. There being no further business before the Council, Councilman Niezgodski moved to adjourn, which motion was seconded by Councilman Muszynski. Motion carried, and Council adjourned at 8 :20 P.M.
