HomeMy WebLinkAbout08-01-55 Council Special Meeting Minutesi z , S9 SPECIAL MEETING AUGUST 1ST, 1955 Be it remembered that the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, met in Special Session in the Council Chamber on Monday, August 1st, 1955, at 8:00 P.M. (E.S.T.), with all members present. STATE' OF ,INDIANA ) SS CITY OF SOUTH BEND ) CALL FOR SPECIAL MEETING To the President, and Members of the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana: Gentlemen: You are hereby notified that under and by virtue of the authority vested in me by law as Mayor of the City of South Bend, in the State of Indiana, a Special Meeting of the Common Council of said City is hereby called to meet in the Council Chamber, in the City Hall at the hour of 8:00 P.M. (E.S.T.), on Monday, August lst, 1955, for the purpose of considering the following ordinances, to -wit: "AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING MONIES FOR THE PURPOSE OF DEFRAYING THE EXPENSES OF ALL BUDGET - OPERATED DEPARTMENTS OF THE CIVIL CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, FOR THE FISCAL YEAR BEGINNING JANUARY 1, 1956, AND ENDING DECEMBER 31, 1956, INCLUDING DEPARTMENTS, FUNDS AND COMMISSIONS FOR WHICH MONEY IS APPROPRIATED, IN WHOLE OR IN PART, FROM FUNDS OTHER THAN THE GENERAL FUNDS OF SAID CITY, TO -WIT: STREET, TRAFFIC AND PARK DEPARTMENTS, FIREMEN'S PENSION AND POLICEMEN;'S PENSION FUNDS, AND THE CITY PLAN COMMISSION: PROVIDING-THAT SUCH APPROPRIATIONS SHALL INCLUDE ALL OUTSTANDING CLAIMS AND OBLIGATIONS: FIXING THE SALARIES OF ALL CITY OFFICIALS AND EMPLOYEES: REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES AND PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH: PROVIDING A TIME WHEN THE SAME SHALL TAKE EFFECT ". ALSO "AN ORDINANCE FIXING THE TAX LEVY FOR THE YEAR 1956 FOR THE CIVIL CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA ". The Chief of Police or any members of the Police Force is hereby directed to forthwith serve a copy of this notice on each and every member-of the Common Council and make due return of such service of said Special Meeting. Zubler Member of the South Bend Police Department Councilman Muszynski made a motion that the call be accepted and placed on file. Councilman Korpal seconded the motion. Motion carried. The ordinance was given first reading by title and second reading in full. Councilman Hahn made a motion that the ordinance be referred to the Committee of the Whole for public hearing on August 29th at 8:00 P.M. (E.S.T.). ; Councilman Bestle seconded the motion. Motion carried. SPECIAL MEETING ORDINAb= AN ORDINANCE FIXING THE TAX LEVY FOR THE YEAR 1956 FOR THE CIVIL CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA. AUGUST 1ST, 1955 C- The ordinance was given first reading by title and second reading in full. Councilman Glass made a motion that the ordinance be referred to the Committee of the Whole for public hearing on August 29th at 8:00 P.M. (E.S.T.). Councilman Korpal seconded the motion. Motion carried. There'being no further business before the Council, Councilman Hahn made a motion to adjourn, which motion was seconded by,.Councilman Glass.
