HomeMy WebLinkAbout07-11-55 Council Meeting MinutesCLERK/J U REGULAR MEETING JULY 11TH, 1955 The Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, met in the Council Chamber on the 11th day of July, 1955, at the hour of 9:40 P.M. (E.S.T.), in regular session in accordance with the rules of the Council. The meeting was called to order by President, Walter C. Erler Sr., who presided. Present: Councilmen Walter C. Erler, Stanley Korpal, Michael Pinter, Cloyd Bestle, Clem Niezgodski, Walter Glass, William Hahn and Chester Muszynski. Absent: None. REGULAR MEETING REPORT OF COMMITTEE ON MINUTES To the Common Council of the City of South Bend: JULY 11TH, 1955 84 Your Committee on the inspection and supervision of the minutes, would respectfully report that they have inspected the minutes of the previous meeting of the Council and found them correct. HAHN ) Councilman Muszynski made a motion that the report be accepted and placed on file. Councilman Glass seconded the motion. Motion carried. COMMUNICATION The Clerk read a report on the tabulations of letters received and opinions telephoned in on change of time. Councilman Korpal made a motion that the tabulation be accepted and placed on file. Councilman Muszynski seconded the motion. Motion carried. PETITION Petition-of Frank Wozniak and Rita Wozniak for the rezoning of Lots numbered 63 and 64 in Mary E. Kaley's Sub- 7 division of :the southeast part of the southwest Quarter of Section 3, Township 37 North of Range 2 East, now a part of the city of South Bend, from "C" Commercial to "B" Use District and "B" Height and Area District. Councilman Hahn made a motion that the petition be referred to the City Plan Commission. Councilman Korpal seconded the motion. Motion carried. PETITION Petition of Colpaert Realty Corporation to rezone 20 acre rectangular tract south of Western Avenue, west of Lombardy Drive and north of Ford St. Councilman Korpal made a motion that the petition be referred to the City Plan Commission. Councilman Hahn seconded the motion. Motion carried. REPORT OF THE COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE To the Common Council of the City of South Bend: Your Committee of the Whole to whom was referred "An Ordinance transferring and appropriating from Office of the Board, Services Personal, H -11 Salary of Surgeon $565.00 to Office of City Clerk, Services Contractual, C -242 Printing $565.00; from'Fire Fighting Equipment and Maintenance Fund $22,703.65 to Fire Department Q -724 Motor Equipment $20,000.00 and to Q -726 Other Equipment $2,703.65; all of the budget for the Civil City of South Bend, Indiana for 1955 and declaring an extraordinary emergency ". Respectfully report that they have examined the matter and that in their opinion this ordinance go to the Council as favorable. W, A. HAHN, Chairman Councilman Muszynski made a motion that the report be accepted and placed on file. Councilman Bestle seconded the motion.. Motion carried. REPORT OF CITY PLAN COMMISSION Honorable Common Council City of South Bend South Bend, Indiana Gentlemen: July 8, 1955 At the June 7, '55 meeting of your City Planning Commission, the Commission considered Council's rejection of the "C -2" Planned Shopping Center District Amendment which was returned to the Commission under the provisions of Ordinance No. 3702, Section 23, sub - sections d and e. It was moved, seconded, and carried unanimously that the Commission accept the Council's rejection of the "C -2" Amendment. It was further moved, seconded, and carried that a new "C -2" Amendment be recommended to the Council as soon as practicable. RLH:aed Very truly yours, CITY PLANNING COMMISSION Robert L.
