AUGUST 30TH, 1954
The Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, met in the 'Council Chamber on the 30th day of August, 1954,
at the hour of 10:17 P.M. in special session in accordance with the rules of the Council.
The meeting was called to order by the President, Walter C.:Erler Sr., who presided.
The members of the Council were shown to be present or absent as follows:
Present: Councilmen Walter C. Erler Sr., Stanley Korpal,
Michael Pinter, Cloyd Bestle, Clem Niezgodski,
Walter, Glass, William A. Hahn and Chester Mus zynski.
Absent: None

To the President, and Members of the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana:
Gentlemen:
You are hereby notified that under and by virtue of the authority vested in me by law as Mayor of the City of
South Bend, in the State of Indiana, a Special Meeting of the Common `Council of said City, is hereby called to
meet in the Council Chamber, iw the City Hall at the hour of 7t00 P.M. Central Standard Time (8 :00 P.M. C. "D.T.),
on Monday, August 30th, 1954, for the purpose of oDnsidering the following ordinances, to -wits
AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING MONIES FOR THE PURPOSE OF
DEFRAYING THE EXPENSES OF ALL BUDGET- OPERATED DEPARTMENTS

CLAIMS AND OBLIGATIONS: FIXING THE SALARIES OF ALL CITY

PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITHs PROVIDING A
TIME WHEN THE SAME SHALL `TAKE EFFECT.

AN ORDINANCE FIXING 'THE TAX LEVY FOR THE YEAR 1955 FOR
THE MUNICIPAL CITY OF' SOUTH BENI), INDIANA.
The Chief of Police or any member of the Police Force is hereby directed to forthwith serve a copy of this notice
on each and every member of the Common Council and make due return of such service of said Special Meeting.

Your Committee of the thole to whom was referred "AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING MONIES FOR THE PURPOSE OF DEFRAYING
THE EXPENSES OF ALL; BUDGET- OPERATED DEPARTMENTS OF THE CIVIL CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, FOR THE, FISCAL YEAR
BEGINNING JANUARY 1, 19550 AND ENDING DECEMBER 319 1955, INCLUDING MEPARTMENTS, FUNDS AND COMMISSION FOR WHICH
MONEY IS APPROPRIATED, IN WHOLE OR IN PART, FROM FUNDS OTHER THAN THE GENERAL FUNDS OF SAID CITY, TO -WITS
STREET, TRAFFIC AND PARK DEPARTMENTS, FIREMEN'S PENSION AND POLICEMEN'S PENSION FUNDS, AND THE CITY PLAN

$4848 *00; 1955 City Election Budget, Services Personal 11, Election Judges (typographical error) be corrected

Council favorable, as amended as follows; General Fund under Maintenance by striking out 1.33 and inserting
1151; Firemen's Pension Fund under Maintenance by striking out .11 and inserting *094; Police Pension Fund
under Maintenance by striking out *079 and inserting *078; under Total Maintenance by striking out 1 *718 and
inserting 1 *681, and under Total by striking out 1 *96 and inserting 1*923*

ORMNANCE NO. 4003 (AS AMENDED)
AUGUST 30TH, 1954
AN ORDINANCE FIRING THE TAX LEVY FOR THE YEAR 1955
FOR THE MUNICIPAL CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA.
Councilman. Glass moved that the tax levy ordinance be - amended_ - as f olloxs: General Fund under Maintenance by
striking out 1.33 and inserting 1.31; Firemen's Pension Fund under Maintenance by striking out .11 and inserting
.094; Police Pension Fund under Miinte�iance by striking out .079 -and inserting :078; under Total Maintenance by
striking out 1.719 and inserting 196819 under Total by- striking out 1996 and inserting 1.923• Councilman
Niezgodski seconded the motion. Motion carried.by a roll call vote of 8 ayes (Councilmen Erler, Korpal, Pinter,
Bestle, Niezgodski, Glass, Hahn and Muszynski) - 0 nays.
The ordinance on the 1955 tax levy as amended was given third reading and passed by a roll call vote of
8 ayes (Councilmen Erle r, Korpal, Pinter, Bestle, Niezgodski, Glass, Hahn and Mus zynski) - 0 nays.
There being ne NAA —Lef business before the Council, Councilman Hahn moved to adjourn, which motion was seconded
by Councilman Muszynski. Motion carried, and the Special Meeting adjourned at 10 :30 P.M.
