JUNE 30TH, 1954
Be it remembered that the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, met in Special Session on Wednesday,
June 30th, 1954, at the hour of 5:30 P.M., with all members present, except Councilmen Korpal and Hahn. The
Honorable Mayor John A. Scott called the meeting to order after v&ich President Erler presided.

To the President, and Members of the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana:
Gentlemen:
You are hereby notified that under and by virtue of the authority vested in me by law as Mayor of the ,-City of
South Bend, in the State of Indiana, a Special Meeting of the Common Council of said City is hereby called to
meet in t* ouneil Chamber, in the City Hall at the hour of 5:30 P.M., on Wednesday, June 30th, 1954, for the
purpose of electing a Councilman -at -Large to fill the vacancy created by the death of Percy Alford*
Dated this 28th day of June, 1954.

Councilman Ni- ezgodski made a motion that the call be accepted and placed on file. Councilman Muszynski seconded
the motion. Motion carried.
Councilman Erler stated that the purpose of the meeting was for the election of a Councilman -at -Large to fill
the vacancy' oreated by the death of Percy Alford, and called for nominations for Councilman -at - Large.
Councilman Muszynski nominated John Smartz for Councilman -at - Large. Councilman. Bestle nominated Joseph Wegner
for Councilman -at- Large. Councilman Glass moved that the nominations be closed. Councilman Niezgodski seconded
the nomination. Motion carried. Upon roll call vote, Councilmen Erler, Bestle and Glass voted for Wegner.
Councilmen Pinter, Niezgodski and Muszynski voted for Smartz.
There being no further business, Councilman Glass made a motion to adjourn, which motion was seconded by
Councilman Niezgodski. Motion carried, and the Special Meeting adjourned at 5:15 P.M.
