President Erler presided. REPORT OF COMMITTEE ON MINUTES To the Common Council-of the City of South Bend: Your Committee on the inspection and supervision of the minutes, would respectfully report that they-have inspected the minutes of the previous meeting of the Council and found them correct. They therefore recommend that the same be approved. Meetings of August 24th and Special Meeting of August 31st, 19530 Councilman Niezgodsk -i made a motion that the report be accepted. carried• REPORT OF TBE COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE To the Common Council of the City of South Bend: WALTER C. Motion Your Committee of the Whole to whom was referred "An Ordinance transferring funds from Tuberculosis Clinic X -261 X -ray Services $450.00 to X -343, Medical, Surgical and Dental $150.00 and to X -215 Transportation Allowances $300.0011. Respectfully report that they have examined the matter and that in their opinion this ordinance go to the Council as favorable. W. A. HAHN, Chairman Councilman Korpal -made a motion that the report be accepted. Councilman Glass seconded the motion. Motion carried. REPORT OF THE COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE To the Common Council of the City of South Bend: Your Committee of the Whole to whom was referred 11An Ordinance providing for the control of the discharge of sewage and industrial wastes into the sewers and sewage treatment works of the City of South Bend, Indiana, and for the charges to be assessed for the use of such sewers and works to be known as "The Sewage and Industrial Taste Ordinance ". Respectfully report that they have examined the matter and that inih.eir opinion this ordinance be held in the Committee of the Whole for two weeks. W. A. Motion carried. :911'7 SEPTEMBER REPORT OF CITY PLAN COMMISSION To the Common Council City of South Bend, Ind. Gentlemen: 'Petition of Hans A., and Elizabeth Hanson for change of zoning of Lots No. 52, 53, 54 and 55 in Baker and McHenry'F Add* from 11 B" Residence and "A" Height and Area Districts to "D" Light Industrial and "F" Height and Area Distriel has ha6ub lic hearing before the City Plan 'Commission• It is recommended by the Commission that the change be made to D light industrial and D height and area districts instead of D and F as named in the petition. The D height and area district will require a setback from front and side streets where the F height and area district does not. These lots are at the northeast corner of North Side Boulevard and Roberts Street. Respectfully, D. Moomaw, Secy. Councilman Korpal made a motion that the report be accepted. UNFINISHED BUSINESS Councilman Niezgodski made a motion that the ordinance on truck passing be held up for thirty days. Councilman Hahn seconded the motion. Motion carried. Councilman Glass made a motion that the Furnace Ordinance be referred to a special committee for further study. Councilman Niezgodski seconded the motion. Motion carried. President Erler named members of the Miscellaneous Committee (Councilmen Bestle, Erler and Muszynski) to serve on the committee. Coun' lman Korpal made.a motion that the Board of Public Works meet with officials of the New York Central Railroad and the Council Committee (Councilmen Muszynski, Glass and Korpal) to further discuss elimination of smoke from switch engines in the vicinity of the 1300 block of Wo Dunham St. Councilman Niezgodski seconded the motion. Motion carried. NEW BUSINESS Councilman Korpal made a motion that the City Water Supt. Edwin Turnock be notified to appear at the next Council meeting on September 28th to explain plans for additional wells and also report on what is being done. about the water pressure in the vicinity of W. Ewing Ave. Councilman Muszynski seconded the motion. _Motion carried. Councilman Korpal made a motion that the Housing Authority send a representative to the next Council meeting on September 28th for an explanation of the government's intention to sell the Southmdre Heights, Beacon Heights, B. G. Smith Homes and Prairie Homes wartime emergency housing projects. Councilman Niezgodski seconded the motion. Motion carried. There being no further business before the Council, Councilman Niezgodski made a motion to adjourn, which motion was seconded by Councilman Hahne Motion carried, and Council adjourned at 8 :57 P.M.
