Be it remembered that the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, met in Special Session in the
Council Chamber, on Wednesday, February 25th, 1953, at 7 :45 P.M., with all members present except Councilman
Bestle.

To the President, and Members of the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana:
Gentlemen:
You are hereby notified that under and by virtue of the authority vested in me by law as Mayor of the City of
South Bend, in the State of Indiana, a Special Statutory of Law Meeting of the Common 'Council of said City is
hereby called to meet in the Council Chamber, in the City Hall at the hour of 7 :30 o'clock P.M.s on Wednesdays
February 25th, 1953, for the purpose of considering and taking action upon the following Resolution, te- -wit:
"House Bill No* 116, Per Capita Return
on Liquor Tax Distribution ",
The Chief of Police or any member of the Police Force is hereby directed to forthwith serve a copy of this
notice on each and every member of the Common Council and make due return of such service of said Special
Meeting.

The Special Call was read by the Deputy Clerk and ordered placed on file.
RESOLUTION
iNHEREAS there has been introduced in the Indiana State Legislature now in session at Indianapolis, Indiana, a
bill which provides for the return to cities and towns of one -half of the original alcoholic: gallonage
tax, known as House Bill 116; and
WHEREAS this bill is at present under consideration by the House Ways and Means Committee A; and
WHEREAS the State of Indiana has imposed an increased burden on the cities and towns without providing additional
sources of revenue for cities to meet this added obligations
NOW THEREFORE BE IT 'RESOLVED that the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, meeting in special
session this 25th day of February, 1953, go on record as unanimously favoring the reporting out of
Committee and the passage of HB 116; and be it further
RESOLVED that the City Clerk be directed to communicate this resolution, by special delivery mail, to the
Honorable Laurence ii. Baker, Chairman, and members of the House Ways and Means Committee A, to Honorable
Anna P* Smelser, Honorable Jesse L."Dickinson, Honorable Otto Pozgay, members of the House of Representa-
tives, to Senator Freeman C. Yeager and Senator Peter A. Beezkiewiez, at Indianapolis*
Unanimously adopted this 25th

Councilman Niezgodski made a motion for the adoption of the Resolution. Councilman Hahn seconded the motion*
Motion carried by a roll call vote of 8.ayes - 0 nays - 1 absent (Councilman Bestlel•
Councilman Korpal made a motion that the eitizens of South Bend write the State Legislators requesting them t0 '
support the bill. Councilman Muszynski seconded the motion. Motion carried. �I
There being no further business before the Council, Councilman Hahn made a motion to adjourn the Special
Meeting, which was seconded by Councilman Korpal. Motion carried- and the Council adjourned at 8:25 P•M.
