Be it remembered that the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, met in regular session in the
Council Chamber, Monday, August 14th, 1950, at 8::12 P.M. with all members present except Councilman Tellson
and Glass. President Erler presided.
REPORT OF . COMMITTEE ON MINUTES
To the Common Council of the City of South Bend:.
Your Committee on the inspection and supervision of the minutes, would respectfully report that they have
Inspected the minutes of the previous meeting of the Council and found them correct. They therefore recommend
that the same be approved.

Councilman Kemper made a motion that the report be accepted. Councilman Niezgodski seconded the motion.

REPORT OF BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS & SAFETY
Members of the Common Council
Council Chambers, City Hall
City of South Bend, Indiana July 27, 1950
Gentlemen:
The Board of Public Works and Safety has authorized the installation of street lights at the following locations:
Trances acid Napoleon Streets; 28th Street at Nursery Court; Intersection of Jefferson Boulevard and 33rd Street;
Intersection of Fremont and Lawton Streets; Chippewa and Addison Streets; Chippewa and Luelde Streets; Addison-
and Luelde Streets.
The Board of Public Works and Safety, also, authorized the changing of the 1000 lumen light to a 4000 lumen light
on Talbot Street between South Bend Avenue and Howard Street.
Mr. Qualls informed the Board that the following lights have been installed and are now in service:
Intersection of Ewing and Hoke Streets; Sommers and Madison Streets; 23rd Street at Grand Trunk R.R.; 25th Street
Street at Grand Trunk R.R.; 27th Street at Grand Trunk R.R.; 29th Street at Grand Trunk R.R.; 31st Street at
Grand Trunk R.R., 33rd Street at Grand Trunk R.R..

IMPORT OF CITY -PLAN COMMISSION
To the Common Council
City of South Bend, Indiana
Gentlemen ::
Petition of Parrish Machine Company for change of zoning of Lots 14 and 15 in Robinson's Second Addition from
B residence and A, height and area districts to D light industrial and F hight and area districts has gone through
Public Hearing on August 3, 1950, before the City Plan Commission and this change is recommended. These lots are
on the East side of Robinson Street south of the N.Y.C.R.R.

ORDINANCE NO. 3770
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 3702 COMMONLY
KNOWN AS THE ZONING ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND.
(Lots on the East side of Robinson Ste south of N.Y.C.R.'R.)
The ordinance was given first reading by title and second reading in full. 'Councilman Muszynski made a motion
for suspension of rules. Councilman Niezgodski seconded the motion. Motion carried by a roll call vote of
6 ayes - 2 absent (Tellson & Glass).
The ordinance was given third reading and passed by a roll call vote of 6 ayes - 2 absent (Tellson & Glass).
REPORT OF CITY PLAN COMMISSION
To the Common Council
City of South Bend, Indiana
Gentlemen::
Petition for change of zoning of Lots 272, 273, 274, 275, 276 and 277 in Shively's Addition from B residence and
A height and area districts to D light industrial and E height and area districts has been given Public Hearing on
August 3, 1950 by the City Plan Commission.
This change is recommend. These lots are on the East side of William Street south of Calvert Street.

AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 3702 COMMONLY KNOWN AS

REPORT OF CITY PLAN COMISSION
To the Common Council
City of South Bend, Indiana
Gentlemen::
Petition of the Crown Development Company for zoning Miami Hills Addition as annexed to the City by Ordinance
3760 has had public hearing on August 3, 1950.
The City Plan Commission recommends that this area which consists of Lots Numbered 1 to 251 inclusive in Miami
Hills ,Addition be zoned A residence district and A height and area districts.
Thif/property is on the west side of Miami Street and North of Erskine Park.

for suspension of rules. Councilman Bestle seconded the motion. Motion carried by a roll call vote of 6 ayes -
2 absent (Tellson and Glass).
The ordinance was given third reading and passed by A roll call vote of 6 ayes - 2 absent (Tellson & Glass).

NEW BUSINESS
Samuel Shapiro, 2325 So. Michigan Street, appeared before the Council with reference to rats in Bowman Creek.
`Councilman Niezgodski made a motion that Mr. Shapiro's complaint be referred to the Board of Public Works &

carried.
There being no further business before the Council, Councilman Niezgodski made a motion to adjourn, which motion
was seconded by Councilman Bestle. Motion carried, and Council adjourned at 8233 P.M.
