Be it remembered that the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, met in regular session in the
Council Chambef , September 12th, 19490 at 7 :05 P.M. Central Standard Time with all members present. President
Erler presided at the meeting..
REPORT OF COMMITTEE ON MINUTES
To the Common Council of the City of South Bend:
Your committee on the inspection and supervision of the minutes, would respectfully report that they have
inspected the minutes of the previous meeting of the Council and found them correct. They therefore
recommend that the same be approved.

Councilman Niezgodski made a motion that the report be accepted. Councilman Muszynski seconded the motion.

REPORT OF BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY
Members of the Common Council

South Bend, Indiana
Gentlemen:
September 3, 1949
Attached hereto please find copies of reports submitted by Mr. William Qualls, Electrical Superintendent, for
street lights at the following locations: Thirty - second and North Side Blvd., Lafayette and Broadway, Huron
Street and the alley west of Olive Street and at the alley in the rear of St. Adalbert's Rectory, Liberty and
Sample Street, at 1502 South Main Street, Angela and North Shore Drive, Olive and Bulla Streets, Twenty-six
and'8astings Street, Huey and Marquette Street, Thirty -third and Pleasant Streets.
Mr. Qualls informed the Board that lights ordered in at 26th and Hastings Streets, 38rd and Pleasant Streets,
Kentucky and Ford Streets, Kentucky and Dunham Streets, Vermont Place near Circle, Revere Place near Circle,
Scott and City Hall Court, Huron and Kaley Street light increased to 4000 lumen, Grace and 'Kaley Street light
increased to 2500 lumen, Poland and Kaley Street light increased to 2500 lumen, Kaley and Fisher Street,
Kaley and Sample Street light increased to a 4000 lumen, Olive and Monroe Street light increased to a 4000
lumen, have been installed and are now in service.

Councilman Niezgodski made a.motion that the report be accepted. Councilman Beetle seconded the motion.

O30)INANCE
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 3702, COMMONLY
KNOWN.AS THE ZONING ORDINANCE.
The ordinance was given first reading by title and second reading in full. Councilman Niezgodski made a
motion that the ordinance be referred to the City Plan Commission. Councilman Kemper seconded the motion.
Motion carried.
RESOLUTION
YWREAS, on the 10th day of January, 1949, the Common Council by Ordinance No. 3684 authorized a general
revision and reoodification of the ordinances of the City of South Bend, Indianaf and
WHEREAS, on the 11th day of July, 1949, the Common Council,approved a revised and recodified form of the
Ordinances of the City of South Bend, Indiana, in book form known as "Municipal Code of South Bend, Indiana.,
of 1949";
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, that the City Clerk is
hereby designated as the custodian of the volumes of said revised and reoodified ordinances; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk is hereby authorized to sell such ordinances to the public at
$6.0O per volume, and that the monies so received shall be deposited in the General Fund of the City of
South Bend, Indiana.

Councilman Niezgodski made a motion that the resolution be adopted. Councilman Muszynski seconded the
motion. Motion carried.
REPORT OF COMMITTEE ON ALBERT AVENUE,:_SHERIDAN AVENUE AND HURON STREET
Councilman Muszynski, Chairman of above Committee, reported on conditions on the above streets. Councilman
Nie sgodski made a motion that the report be accepted. Councilman Tellson seconded.the motion. Motion carried.
City Engineer.to arrange for barricades and flares on Albert Ave, and Huron St.,

MOTIONS
Councilman Niezgodski made a motion that Ws� ricaniend the. Boat& Of Public..B*orkai- to erect signs prohibiting
trucks in the 1100 "blook on Grace Street. Councilman Muszynski seconded the motion. Motion carried.
Councilman Niezgodski made a motion that Mr. Miller, Traffic Engineer, furnish the Council at their next
regular meeting on September 26th, with a report on work that has been done regarding projects on the New
York Central, Grand Trunk, South Shore, and all other steam railroads. Councilman Kemper seconded the motion.
Motion carried.
There being no further business, Councilman Glass made a motion to adjourn, which motion was seconded by
Councilman Beetle* Motion carried, and Council adjourned at 7 :50 P.M. Central Standard.Time.
