JANUARY 3RD. 1949
Be it remembered that the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, mat in the Council Chambers of
the City Hall, Monday, January 3rd, 1949, at 8:10 P.M. for the purpose of electing officers for the year 1949.
The Honorable Mayor George A. Schock called the meeting to order and the following Councilmen were present:
Councilmen -at -Large Stanley Korpal and Albert Tellson; let District, Councilman Cloyd A. Bestle; 2nd District,
Councilman Clem Niezgodski; 3rd District., Councilman Walter Glass; 4th District, Councilman Alvin P. Kemper;
5th District, Walter C. Erler, and, 6th District, Councilman Chester E. Muszynski,
Councilman -at -Large Tellson nominated Councilman Erler as president of the Council. Councilman Glass seconded
the nomination. Councilman Muszynski placed the nay of Councilman Niezgodski for president of the Council.
Councilman Niezgodski thanked Councilman Muszynski for his consideration and the confidence placed in him as
president in the past and declined the nomination. Councilman Muszynski with -drew his nomination. Councilman
Korpal made a motion that the nominations be closed. Councilman Kemper seconded the motion. The Clerk was
instructed to cast a unanimous vote of the Council for Councilman Erler as president of the Council.
Councilman Glass nominated Councilman Tellson as vice- president. Councilman Bestle seconded the nomination.
Councilman Glass made a motion that the nominations be closed. Councilman Korpal seconded the motion. The
Clerk was instructed to cast a.unanimous vote of the Council for.Councilman Tellson as vice- president of the
Council,
There being no other business before the Council, Councilman Glass made a motion to adjourn, *hibh motion was
seconded by Councilman Beetle. Motion carried, and Council adjourned at 8:20 P.M.
