Be it remembered that the Common Council of the-City of South-Bend, Indiana, met in regular session in the
Council Chambers, City Hall, _L'ecember 8th, 1947, at 7;40 P.M., Frith all members present except Councilman,
Richardson. President Brannan `presided. The reading of the Minutes of the previous meeting was waived.
REPORT OF ORDINANCE CO1a:IITTEE
A report from the Ordinance Committee, concerning an Ordinance proposing to amend the Zoning Ordinance by
limiting the height of tanks to one hundred seventy -five feet, vias read.
Councilman Niezgodski made a motion that the report by the Ordinance Committee be accepted as read.
Councilman "McCarthy, seconded the motion. Motion carried.

Gentlemen;
Attached hereto are copies of reports rendered to the Board of Public 0nrorks and Safety by Mr. William Qualls.
In all instances where Mr. Qualls recommended the installation of street lights the Board has ordered the lights
installed. lVe believe these reports are self explanatory.
Weral.so wish to advise that street lights ordered in at Orchard and Monson Streets; Evling Avenue and Chapin Stre
Crumstowfi Avenue and Bendix Drive; Bonds Avenue and Bendix Drive; Prast Avenue and Bendix Drive; and the lights
which were , turned off during the war in Twyckenh.am Addition are all installed and are noii in service.

Councilman A?iezgodski made a motion that the report from Mr. Qualls, relative to the lighting conditions on
Meade Street, particularly at 1flea.de & Yapier, be held in abveyance in the Council for further investimation.

To The Common Council,
City of South Bend, Ind.
Gentlemen:
Petition for a change of zoning classification of Lot. #25 in Leeper's 2nd Addition, was considered by the City
Plan Commission at their regular meeting: November 6th.
The City Plan Commission recommends this change.
Councilman Bishop made a motion that the report be accepted.

referred to the Committee of the 'Whole for Public Hearing on December 22nd, 1947, at 7:30 P.M.

Councilman Niezgodski made a motion that this Ordinance be held for further study by the Councilmen,

Councilman Mjirocha made a motion that the Council concur with the report pf the Ordinance Committee and
table this Ordinance. Councilman: Neizgodski seconded the motion. Motion carried. Ordinance tabled.
PESOLUTIOItiT
tl- THEREAS, some two or more years ago 'petitions were filed with the Common Council of the City of South Bend,
requesting street lights at 30th and Hastings and 24th and Hastings Streets; And
liT-I RE'AS, said petitions were referred to the Board of Public ;'Torks and Safety, of the City of South Bend,
with a request from the Council, that the said Board of Public 7iorks and Safety, report back to the
Council at the next regular meeting of the Council, as to their findings; And,
77HERE :S, shortly thereafter the Board of Public '`works and Safety, reported that a street light had been
ordered installed at 30th and ;castings, but to date'no light has been installed and no report has been
forth- coming dh the 24th and Hastings Streets light, even though repeated requests have been made for a
report on these petitions.
NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the Common Council of the City of South Bend, that the Board of Public
Works and Safety, be requested to take immediate steps to secure the installation of street lights at 30th
and Hastin"s and at 24th and Hastings Streets.
This Resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage by the CoTw.on Council and
approval by the `Mayor.

Councilman Bishop made a motion that the Resolution be adopted and that 4000 lumen lights be installed.

RESOLUTION
7arEREAS, The City of South Bend, is approaching the close of its fiscal years; And,
:WHEREAS, the office of the City Controller will be required to make numerous payments and close its numerous
and complicated accounts; And,
7EIR EAS, it is desirable that the work of said office be simplified when possible,
NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana.
SECTION 1. That all employees of the City be paid their salaries in full for the month of December on the
15th day of said month.
SECTION 11. The Controller of the City of South Bend, is hereby authorized to make said salary payments
upon said date.
SECTION 111. This Resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage by the Common
Council and approval by the Mayor.
