Be it remembered that the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, met in Regular Session,
in the Council Chambers, City,Hall, August 11th, 1947, at 7 ;30 P.M., with all members present except
Councilmen Hull and Mirocha. President Brannan presided.
CO1iZ1UNICATION
A communication from C. S.- Haffher,-Executive Sec'y and Treas., of the Izaak Walton League of America,
St. Joseph County, Indiana, Chapter, Inc., regarding the engineering plans for the construction of "the main
intercepter sewer system-having been completed and approved by the State Board of Health, was read, and on motion
of Councilman Richardson, seconded by Councilman McCarthy, the communication was ordered returned to the Mayor.
Motion carried.
REPORT OF CITY PLAN COMMISSION
To The Common Council,
City of South Bend, Indiana.
Gentlemen;
August 8th, 1947.
Petition of R. K. Virgil for change of zoning classification of Lots #578 and 579 in the erd Plat of Summit
Place from "B" Residence and "A" Height and area districts to "D" Light Industrial and "E" Height and area
districts was considered by the City Plan Commission at their regular meeting August 7th, 1947.
This change is recommended as petitioned for. (Fisher West of Olive Street)

Councilman Richardson made a motion that the report be accepted and that the City Attorney be instructed to
draw up an ordinance accordingly. Council Niezgodski seconded the motion. Motion carried.
REPORT OF CITY PLAN COMMISSION
To The Common Council,
City of South Bend, Indiana.
Gentlemen;
August 8th, 1947.
Petition of Russell T. and Dewey Covell, for change of zoning classification of their property at 2204
Pleasant Street, from "B" Resident e and "A" Height and Area districts to "C" Commercial district was
considered by the City Plan Commission at their regular meeting August 7th, 1947.
The property at 2204 Pleasant St., is a part of Lot #53 of the Original Plat of River Park; the remainder
of Lot #53 is owned by J. V. Morris, 1210 S. Ironwood Drivel who has signified his desire to have his portion
of Lot #53 included inthe change. 1
The City Plan Commission recommends that all of Lot #53, he changed -to "C" commercial and D Height and area
districts.

Councilman Bishop made a motion that the report be accepted and that the City Attorney bednstructed to
draw up an Ordinance accordingly. Councilman Korpal seconded the motion. Motion carried.

Gentlemen;
August 8th, 1947.
Petition of Post 1167 Veterans of Foreign Wars 'for change of zoning classification of their Club House property
at 1047 L. 71. E., from B Residence and A Height and Area districts tp "C" Commerical and "E" Height and area
districts, was considered by the City Plan Commission at their regular meeting, August 7th, 1947.
Proper description of this property is Lots 11-2;, and I -2, in Wenger and'Kreighbaumts Vistula Avenue Addition.
With the foregoing correction of the description of this property, the City Plan Commission recommends
this change as petitioned for.

Councilman Niezgodski made a motion that the report be accepted and that the City Attorney be instructed to
draw up an Ordinance accordingly. Councilman Bishop seconded the motion. Motion carried.

Councilman McCarthy made a motion that the report be accepted. Councilman Korpal seconded the motion.
Motion carried.
ORDINANCE
AN ORDINANCE TRANSFERRING MONIES FROM P -11, SALARIES
AND WAGES, POLICE DEPARTMENT; TO P -726, OTHER EQUIPMENT,
POLICE DEPARTWNT, $2,400.00, DECLARING All ENLERGENCY.
The Ordinance was given first and second reading. Councilman Bishop made a motion that the Ordinance be
referred to the Committee of the Vole for Public Hearing on August 25th, 1947, at 7;30 P.M. Councilman
Niezgodski seconded the motion. Motion carried.

AN ORDINANCE AIMIDING ORDINANCE NO. 2331,
AUGUST 11th, 1947.
ADOPTED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, JUNE 25th, 1923, AND COMMONLY
KNOWT AS THE ZONING ORDINANCE.

The Ordinance was given firstsad second reading. Councilman McCarthy made a motion that the Ordinance
be referred to the City Plan Commission. Councilman Bishop seconded the motion. Motion carried.
These being no further business, Council adjourned at 7 :40 P.M.
