Be it remembered that the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, met in Regular Session in the
Council Chambers, City Hall, March 31st, 1947, at 7 :40 P.M., with all members present. President Brannan
presided. The reading of the Minutes of the previous meeting was.. waived.
COMMUNICATION:
A communication from the South Bend Parking Company., Inc., By,.Samuel Coffman, President, dated March 19th, and
1947, with reference to the report entitled "The South Bend Parking Problem ".was read by the Clerk.
Councilman McCarthy made a motion that the communications be turned over to the City Attorney so that he tali
acquaint himself with the report in question. Councilman Heideman seconded the motion. Motion carried.
REPORT OF THE COMMITTEE OF ZiE VEOLE
To The Common Council of the City of South Bend:
March 31, 1947.
Your Committee of the thole, to whom was referred and Ordinance fixing the 'salaries of certain City "Official "s
and Employees of the City of South Bend, Indiana, effective January 1, 1948, and repealing all: ordinances
and parts of ordinances in conflict therewith.
Respectfully report that they have examined the matter and that in their opinion this Ordinance shall be
reported favorably to the Council.

Councilman Bishop made a motion that the report be accepted. Councilman Ni ezgodski seconded the motion.
Motion carried.
REPORT OF. :THE BOARD OF TnRKS AND SAFETY
Members of the Common Council,
City Hall
South Bend, Indianat
Gentlemen:
March 31, 1947.
At a regular meeting of the Board of Public Works and Safety,_ Mr. Qualls, Electrical Superintendent, informed
the Board that street lights ordered in at Orange and Brokfield Streets, Orange and College Streets, Donald
and Scott Streets, Francis ami Howard Streets, 28th and Pleasant Streets and Corby Street at the entrance to
St. Louis Boulevard had all been installed and are now in service.
We have no further reports from Mr. Qualls on the request made by.your honorable Body, due to illness in his
department which has prevented him from making investigations.

The Ordinance was given third reading and passed by a roll call vote of,-9 ayes - 0 nays.

AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE SALE OF CERTAIN PERSONAL
PROPERTY BY 7EIE CITY OF SOUTH BEND.
The Ordinance was given first and second reading. Councilman Niezgodski made a motion for suspension of
rules. Councilman Bishop seconded the motion. Motion carried,by a roil call vote of 9 ayes - 0 nays.
The Ordinance was given third reading and passed by a roll call vote of 9 ayes - 0 nays.

OTHER STRUCTURES,. $200.00; AND TRANSFERRING MONIES FROM THE STREET
AND TRAFFIC FUND 7D THE FOLLOTaNG BUDGETARY ITEM, TO -WITr TO 5262,
MISCELLANEOIISSURGICAL SUPPLIES, DECLARING AN EMERGECNY.
The Ordinance was given first and second reading. Councilman Niesgodski made a motion to refer the Ordinance
to the Committee of 'the 1hole for public hearing the 14th day of April,. 1947, at 7 :30 P.M. Councilman Bishop
seconded the motion. Motion carried.

The Ordinance was given third reading and passed by a roll call vote of 9 &yea - 0 nays.

resolution adopted by the Izaak Walton League, on the 26th day of March, 194?; was read by the Clerk.
Councilman Richardson made a motion instructing the City Clerk to answer this coma►unication, assuring the
Izaak Walton League, that the Sewage Disposal'System, will be given first consideration. Councilman
Heidemen seconded the motion. Motion carried.
There being no further business, Council adjourned at 8 :10 P.M.
