President Korpal presided. The reading of the e Minutes f the previous meeting was waived. COM UNICATICIIS A letter from C. H. Thompson, Sales Engineer, for Magee -Hale Park -O -Meter Company, Oklahoma City, Okla., was read. Councilman McCarthy made a motion that the communication be referred to the Board of Public Works and Safety. Councilman Richardson seconded the motion. Motion carried. PETITI01v To The County. Council City of South Bend, Indiana. Gentlemen: South Bend, Indiana. August 20, 1946. We, the undersigned property owners, petition your honorable body to change the zoning of lots #37, 38, 39 in Oakland Park Addition in South Bend, Indiana, from its present classification (B- reidential) to light industrial and "E" Height and Area. (3 Signers) Councilman Bishop made a motion that the petition be referred to the City Plan Commission. Councilman Brannan, seconded the motion. Motion carried., PETITION TO THE COMPRON COUNCIL, City of South Bend, Indiana. Gentlemen.: South Bend, Indiana, Sept. 9, 1946. We, the undersigned property osmers, petition your honorable body to re -zone Harris Street from one half block South of Fisher Street to a half block North of Fisher Street, changed from "A" District to "C" District. ( 7 Signers) Councilman Niezgodski made a motion that the petition be referred to the City Plan Commission. Councilman Bishop seconded the motion. Motion carried. PETITION TO THE COMMON COUNCIL, City of South Bend, Indiana. Gentlemen: South Bend, Indiana, August 26, 1946. We, the undersigned- property owners, petition your honorable body for a street light at the corner of N. Johnson Strut and Elwood Avenue. ( 27 Signers) Councilman Niezgodski made a motion that the petition be referred to th.e Board of Public Works and Safety. Councilman Bishop seconded the motion. Motion carried. REPORT OF THE COMMITTEE OF THE WIOLE TO THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND: Sept. 9, 1946. Your Committee of The''Nhole, to whom was referred an Ordinance amending Ordinance 72331, commonly known as the Zoning Ordinance of the City of South Bend, Indiana. (100 Block.E. North Shore Drive and corner North Main and I\Tavarre). Respectfully report that they have examined the matter and that in their opinion this Ordinance should go to the Grievance Committee and that a report be made at the next regular meeting of the Council, on Oeptember 23rd. Councilman McCarthy made an amendment that if possible the Grievance Committee meet with both factions on this Ordinance and that perhaps they can come to some understanding, the meeting to be held on September 18th, 1946, it 7 :30 P.M., in the office of the Board of Works and Safety. Councilman Bishop made a motion that the report be accepted. Councilman Brannan seconded the motion. Motion carrii REPORT OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC ti�'ORKS AND SAFETY September 9th, 1946 Members of the Common Council, City Hall, South Bend, Indiana. Gentlemen: Enclosed you will find reports on street lights requested at Ironwood Drive and Donald Street and also at Northwood Drive between Campeau Street and Rockne Drive, which were recommended by Mr. Qualls and ordered in by the Board of Public Works and Safety. Mr. Qualls also informed the Board that street lights ordered in at Kervrood and Fremont 'Streets and also at Huey Street and Vassar Avenue had been installed and were now in service. The Ordinance was given third reading. Councilman Niezgodski made a motion that the Ordinance be held in the Council for two weeks. Councilman Brannan seconded the motion. ORDINANCE AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 2331, AS AMENDED, OF THE MUNICIPAL CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA. (South Bend Sand & Gravel) The Ordinance was given first and second reading. Councilman Mirocha made a motion that the Ordinance be set for Public Hearing on September 23rd, 1946, at 7 :30 P.M. Councilman Bishop seconded the motion. Motion carried. ORDINANCE NO. 3569 AN ORDINANCE APPROVING THE BORROWING OF $77,500.00 FROM THE BUREAU OF COMMUNITY FACILITIES OF THE FEDERAL ARKS AGENCY: AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE AN AGREEMENT WITH SAID FEDERAL INSTRUMENTALITY= AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE CITY CLERK TO CERTIFY TO THE AUTHORITY OF THE MAYOR IN THE-ADOPTION OF THIS ORDINANCE; DECLARING AN EMERGENCY The.. - Ordinance was-given first-and second reading.
