11 REGULAR MEETING NOVEIITBER 26, 1945
Be it remembered that the Common Council of the City of South. Lend; Indiana., met in regular session
Mall, on T onday, Nover�ber 26th, 1945, at 7 :32 P.t ., i,,ith all members
in the Council Chambers, City
present except Councilman Null. President Mirocha presided. The reading of the minutes of the previous
meeting was waived.
COI IUNTICATIOITS:
A communication from Rufus 7. Smith; Chief, Temple Court j392, Ben iiur Life Association, and a resolution
adapted by the members o' the Court, with regard to the Sewage Disposal Plant, was read and Councilman
Bishop,,:i,�ade.a.:inotion:.that the :commun.ication be placed on file. Councilman Korpal seconded the motion.
Motion carried.
A communication from Merritt C. Farrar, of the South Bend Audubon Society, with regard to the Sewage
Disposal Plant, was read. Councilman Heideman, made a motion that the communication be:3laced on
file. Councilman Bishop seconded the motion. Tsrotion carried.
A communication from Lyndall Vernette, Chairman, Public Affairs Committee, of the Business and
Professional ;omen's Club, withrregard to the Sewage Disposal Plant, was read. Councilman Bishop made
a motion that the communication be placed on file. Councilman Korpal seconded the motion. T�otion carried.

17e, the undersigned property owners, petition your honorable body to improve twenty- fourth Street
by.putting a light at the corner of 24th Street and Hastings Street, South.L�end, Indiana.

Councilman Brannan, made a motion that this petition be referred to the Board of Public corks and
Safety, and that an answer be given to the Council at the next meeting of the Council,and also that he
would like to renew his request for the renewal of his petition that he had on file before the Board
of 17brks and Safety, three years ago for a light at 30th and Hastings Street. This petition was granted
and the light ordered installed but immediately after this because of government restrictions this was
never completed and the light was never installed on that corner,and that he would like at this time
to ask the Clerk of the Board of 5;7orks and Safety, if this petition is on file�and if so, makes a motion
that the Board of :7orks instruct the City Engineer or the I &M, to install a light at 30th Street and
Hastings Street. Councilman Bishop seconded the motion. Motion carried.

The undersigned, Drewrys Limited U.S.A.Inc., an'Indiana corporation, being the owner of the following
described real estate in the City of South Bend, Coun.ty:of St. Joseph, and State of Indiana, to -wit:
Beginning at a point that is 480 feet East of the est boundary line of Section No. 2,
Township 37 North, Range No. 2,East and 400 feet South of the South Line of Elwood Avenue;
thence east on a line parallel with the South line of said Elwood Avenue a distance of
495 feet; thence South on a line parallel with the ':Test boundary line of said Section No. 2,

To the Common Council, City of South Bend, Indiana.
Gentlemen:
The City Plan Commission has approved the change of zoning classification of Lot #19, Swygart's
Third Addition, as petitioned for. C___; ' /",-

Councilman Bishop made a motion to accept the report. Councilman Korpal seconded the motion.
Motion carried.
REPORT OF CITY PLAN COMMISSION
To the Common Council, City of South fiend.
Gentlemen:
The City Plan Commission has approved the change of zoning classification of lots No. 12 and 13,
Miami Heights Addition as petitioned for.

Councilman Richardson, made a motion that the Ordinance be set for Public Hearing on Lecember 10th,
1945, and that Mr. Moomaw be requested to be present,and that the Council will be glad to have
Mr. Dekelboum, present at that time. Councilmen Niezgodski; seconded the motion. ;Motion carried.
REPORT OF CITY PLAN COMMISSION
To the Common Council, City of South "end, Indiana.
Gentlemen:
According to an opinion received from the City Attorney:,: the City Plan. Commission, does not
have authority to act on the matter of making Olive Street from Western Avenue to Sample Street,
a boulevard under the jurisdiction of the Park Board.

RESOLUTION AUTHORIZINTG CERTAIN PAYME'dTS TO BE MADE TO CITY EMPLOYEES
";HE,`REAS, the City of South fiend is approaching the close of its fiscal year; And,
1,1cIEREAS, the office of the City Controller will be required to make numerous payments. and close :its
numerous and complicated accounts; And,
NHEREAS, it is desirable that the work of said office be simplified vhen possible,
NOW, UiEREFORE, be it resolved by the Common Council of the City of South `'end, Indianap
SECTION 1. That all employees of the City shall be paid their salaries in full for the month of
Deeember on the 15th day of said month.
SEC "TION 11. The Controller of the City of south lend, is hereby authorized to make said salary
payments upon said date.
SECTION 111. This resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage by the
Common Council and. approval by the "4layor.
