ORDINANCE NO. 3538 AN ORDINANCE RELATIVE, TO THE PROTECTION OF THE CROSSINGS OF THE GRAND TRUNK 1VISTE;RN RAILROAD COMPANY AT 30th STREET, LINCOLIC, AY EAST ATTD FELLOW STREET IN THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA. The Ordinance was given first and second reading. Councilman McCarthy made a motion for the suspension of rules. Councilman Bishop seconded the motion. Motion carried by a roll call vote of 9 ayes - 0 nays. The Ordinance was given third reading and passed by a roll call vote of 9 ayes - 0 nays. ORDINANCE AN ORDINANCE REDUCING THE APPROPRIATION FOR BUDGETARY ACCOUNT ATO. B262 IN THE BUDGET OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND FOR THE CALENDER YEAR 1945, SAID ACCOUNT TO BE EWTITLED "POST WAR PLANNING, RESEARCH AND ENGINEERING" IN THE AMOUNT OF $159000.00 The Ordinance was given first reading. Councilman Richardson made a motion that the Ordinance be held in the Council, and that the Board of Public 'Torks and iSafety, be notified that, the reason for it being held is in order to give local engineering firms an opportunity to submit plans and specifications on the Sewage Disposal, and that a copy of the minutes be sent to the Councilmen. Councilman Brannan seconded the motion. Motion was carried by a roll call vote of 6 ayes - 3 nays. The communication from the Mayor was read. RESOLUTION RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING THE USE OF EASTERN STANDARD TIl'a'IE FROM TIM O'CLOCK A.M., (CENTRAL STANDARD TIME) OF EACH LAST SUNDAY OF EVERY APRIL OF EERY YEAR UNTIL T"aU O'CLOCK, A.M. (EASTERN STAIvMRD TIME) OF EACH LAST SUNDAY OF .EVERY SEPTEMBER OF EVERY YEAR 71711EREAS by a series of Resolutions, and amendments thereto, the use of Eastern Standard Time has been established in South Bend, and 'AH EREAS, certain conditions made it advisable to extend the period during which Eastern Standard Time was in force and effect, and MHEREAS, such extended use of Eastern Standard Time is no longer necessary. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED By the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana: Section 1. That the standard tip throughout said City, beginning with the hour of 2 :00 o'clock (Central Standard Time) on the morning of each last Sunday of each April of every year, and ending at the hour of 2.00 o'clock A.M. Eastern Standard Time, each last Sunday of each September of every year, shall be that 75th Meridian of Longitued West from Greenwich known as Eastern Standard Time. OVER- 4 U4 Section 2. That all clocks and time pieces, including those in the municipal offices, within said City shall, at the hour of 2 :00 A.M., Central Standard Time, on each last Sunday of each April in every year be advanced one hour, namely, to three o'clock A.M. Section 3. That all business within said City shall be conducted in conformity vith the advancement of one hour until 2 :00 'o''clock A.M., Eastern Standard Time, of each last Sunday of each September of every year. Section 4. That at the hour of 2, :00 o'clock A.M., Eastern Standard Time, on each last Sunday of each September of every year, all clocks and time pieces within said City shall be set back one hour to conform to Central Standard Time. Section 5. This Resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after its enactment and approval by the Mayor, and shall govern the moment of time at which the City, now on Eastern Standard Time, shall return to Central Standard Time. Councilman Richardson made a motion to adopt the Resolution. Councilman Heideman seconded the motion. Councilman Richardson made a motion to withdraw his former motion.. Councilman Heideman seconded the motion. Councilman Neizgodski made a motion to table the Resolution. Councilman McCarthy seconded the motion. Motion carried.
