JULY 9th. 1945.
Be it remembered that the Common Council of the City of`South Bend, Indiana, met in regular session
in the Council Chambers, City hall, on Monday, July 9th, 1945, at 7 :35 P.M., with all members present
except Councilmen,.Richardson and McCarthy. President Mirocha presided. The minutes of the previous
meeting was waived.
A Communication from Chas. H. Jones, Vice President and General Manager of the Chicago South Shore
and 'South Bend Railroad, regarding the oiling of Orange Street, was ordered placed on file on motion
of Councilman Niesgodski, seconded by Councilman Hull.
REPORT OF THE COM41ITTEE OF THE THOLEF:
Your Committee of the Whole, to whom was referred "An Ordinance Transferring the amount of x'2700.00
from the budgetary'Aceount No. Qll in the Budget of the City of South Bend to the General Fund of the
City of South Bend, and appropriating from the General Fum3 of the City of South °end from the follow-
ing accounts the specific amounts indicated, to -wit: $1,000.00 to budgetary Account No. H233, $1500.00
to budgetary Account No. Q321, x200.00 to budgetary Account No. V321,.and appropriating from the Street
and Traffic fund of the City of South Bend $400.00 to budgetary Account No. S51; declaring an emergency "p
Respectfully report that they have examined the matter and thatin their opinion the ordinance shall be
reported favorably.

Councilman'Niedzgodski made a motion to accept the report. Councilman Brannan seconded the motion.

TING FROM THE GENERAL FUND OF THE CITY OF SOUTTi BEND FROM THE FOLLOWING ACCOUNTS THE SPECIFIC
AMOUNTS INDICATED, TO -MIT: $1,000.00 TO BUDGETARY ACCOUNT NO. H233m $1500.00 TO BUDGETARY

ORDINANCE NO. 3530
AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE APPRAISAL OF CERTAIN REAL ESTATE OWNED BY THE CITY OF SOUTH
BEND, IND11NA, TO-WIT- LOTS NUMBERED 26, 270 28 and 29 IN MILLER AND GREEN'S SECOND ADDITION
TO THE TOWN OF LOltUL, NO`Av A PART OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND: AUTHORIZING PROPER OFFICERS OF
THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND TO SELL AND CONVEY SAID PROPERTY FOR NOT LESS THAN THE APPRAISED
PRICE: DECLARING AN H:IERGENCY.
The ordinance was given first and second reading. Councilman Niezgodski made a motion for the suspension
of rules. Councilman Hull seconded the motion. Motion carried by a roll call vote of 7 ayes, 2 absent.
The Ordinance was given third reading and passed by a roll call vote of 7 ayes, 0 nayes - 2 absent.(Richardson
and McCarthy)
Councilman John Mirocha, President of the Council, appointed Councilman, Richardson, Korpal and Bishop,
to work with the Mayor, the heads of the Department and a committee from the employees of each department,
in regard to the 1946 budget.
Councilman Brannan, made a motion that the Board of Works and Safety, instruct the Traffic Engineer to
take steps to install a traffic light at the corner of Mishawaka Avenue and Twyckenham Drive. If some
definite action is not taken before the next meeting, a resolution will be prepared and presented to the
Council. Councilman Bishop seconded the motion. Motion carried by a roll call vote of 7 ayes, 0 nays - 2 absent
(Richardson and McCarthy)
There being no further business, Council adjourned at 8 :43 P.M.
