President Niezgodski presided. The reading of the minutes of the previous meeting was waiv A card from the members of the Richardson family was ordered placed on file on motion of Councilman Heideman, second ed by Councilman McCarthy. A communication (in form of Resolution) from the South Bend Civic Planning Association Inc. requesting that the enti rate structure of the bus companies be examined by the Common Council, and, if possible, the bus fares reduced, was ordered accepted and placed on file on motion of Councilman McCarthy, seconded by Councilman Bishop. A communication (in forgi of Resolution) from the South Bend Civic Planning Association, Inc. requesting that the Common Council order the S.B. Motor Bus Co. and the No. Indiana Transit Co. to file with the Common Council a balanc sheet and profit and loss statement for the year 1943 or the immediate past fiscal year, was ordered accepted and placed on file on motion of Councilman McCarthy, seconded the Councilman. The ordinance was given first and second reading. Councilman McCarthy made a motion that the ordinance be referred for public hearing on October 9. Councilman Mirbeh- seconded the motion. Motion carried. PR S nLTTT T nrT RESOLUTION? AUTHORIZING BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, TO SELL CERTAIN PERSONML PROPERTY. WHEREAS, the City of South Bend, Indiana, owns one horse - powered Oliver Mower, purchased in 1939, and of no further use to the said city, and WHEREAS, it is for the best interest of the city that said property be disposed of for the highest and best price obtainable. NOW, THE_REF0RE, ' BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, that: -1.- The Board of "Public Works and Safety of said city be, and the same is hereby, authorized t.6 sell the said property above described. 2. The said Board shall conduct such sale in conformity with the requirements of the statutes of the State of Indiana. Dated at South Bend, Indiana, this day of September, 1944. Richardson, and to all the members of his family, the deep- est and most sincere sympathy for the loss which they have suffered, a loss all the greater for the love and admira- tion given by the family to the departed wife and mother. With our fellow councilman, his family' and their host of good and loyal friends, we joing in prayer for the soul of the departed, asking that her soul be granted peace in life eternal and that the blessing of her memory be an in- spiration to all. Railroad be requested to appear before the Council and report upon the progress of the installation of Arnold Street gates. Councilman Korpal seconded the motion. Motion carried.
