Chambers, City Hall, on Monday, July 24, 1944, at 7 :30 P.M. with all members present except Councilman Brannan.
President Niezgodski presided. The reading of the minutes of the previous meeting was waived.
A communication and petition from the Parrish Machine Co. were read and ordered placed on file on motion of Council -
man Heideman, seconded by Councilman Bishop. The following ordinance was attached to the communication:
ORDINANCE
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 2331.
(Referring to Lots Numbered 16,17 and 18
on recorded plat of Robinson's Second Sub-
division, etc.)
Councilman Richardson made a motion that the ordinance and correspondence be referred to the City Plan Commission.
Councilman Korpal seconded the motion. Motion carried. (Action after first and second reading of ordinance).

AN ORDINANCE APPROVING A CONTRACT BETWEEN THE
CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, AND INDIANA &
MICHIGAN ELECTRIC COMPATTY. (contract attached)
The ordinance was given first and second reading. Councilman Richardson made a motion to suspend the rules. Council-
man Korpal seconded the motion. Motion carried by a roll call vote of 8 ayes - 0 nays - 1 absent (Brannan). The
ordinance was given third reading and passed by a roll call vote of 8 ayes - 0 nays - 1 absent (Brannan).

APPROPRIATING THE SAID AMOUNTS TO THE SAID ACCOUNTS:- DE-
CLARING AN EMERGENCY.
Councilman Richardson made a motion that the ordinance be set for public hearing at the next regular meeting. Council
man Bishop seconded the motion. Motion carried. (Action after first and second reading of ordinance).

YEAR 1944 FOR THE PERSONAL SERVICE ACCOUNT NUMBERED S12
IN THE BUDGET QF THE STREET DEPARTMENT OF THE CITY OF SOUTH
'SEND, INDIANA, IN THE ACOUNT OF $975.00; TRANSFERRING SAID
AMOUNT TO THE STREET AND TRAFFIC FUND OF SAID CITY: TRA.NS-
FERRING CERTAIN FUNDS FROM THE SAID STREET AND TRAFFIC FUND
TO CERTAIN ACCOUNTS IN THE BUDGET OF THE STREET DEPARP. -IENT

hearing on August 14th. Councilman Korpal seconded the motion. Motion carried.
Councilman Richardson made a motion for the suspension of rules. Councilman Bishop seconded the lotion. Motion carrie
by a roll call vote of 8 ayes - 0 nays - 1 absent (Brannan). Councilman Richardson made a motion that the budget
ordinances be given second reading by caption only. Councilman Mirocha seconded the motion. Motion carried by a roll.

The ordinance was given first and second reading. Councilman McCarthy made a motion to set the ordinance for public
hearing on August 28-_' :Councilman Heideman seconded the motion. Motion carried.
Councilman Richardson made a motion that the budget be set for public,hearing on August 28th and be so advertised.
Councilman Korpal seconded the motion. Motion carried.
Councilman Richardson made.a motion that the City Court be advised that they are privileged to use the Council
Chambers but said Chambers must be kept in good condition. Councilman Mirocha seconded the motion. Motion carried.

Councilman McCarthy made a motion that the City Attorney be instructed.t o investigate the various laws governing
circuses and like entertainment arid that the City Controller have on file a simplified list of rules and regulations
for distribution to persons responsible for such shows and that the Board of Safety shall be responsible for the en-
forcement of these rules and regulations. Councilman Bishop seconded the motion. Motion carried.
